I mean an assistant from Duke or North Carolina would be okay but my first choice would be a guy that has built a winning program as the head man. I do not want someone who just got hot one year and made an Elite 8 or Sweet 16 but really hasn't been a consistent winner.

He destroyed Indiana, why the 17 would you want him? I would add Bryce Drew, Bobby and Danny Hurley, Danny Manning and Steve Wojciechowski.

Tad Boyle at CU Boulder is doing a remarkable job of turning around a dismal program. MSU would certainly be an upgrade for him. In his 2nd year, hasn't made the tourney yet, but got them moving in the right direction.

Bryce Drew - YES!

Mike Davis - NO!

...the Head Coach at Murray State. He was a long time assistant to Billy Kennedy at Centenary and Tulane, and is was a graduate assistant at Alabama. He also graduated from Alabama and has connections from Mississippi, Louisiana, and Alabama.

Heck no to Mike Davis, I would love to see us go after Jeff Capel, has both assistant pedigree and HC experience and an ELITE 8 appearance ...

the cheating stuff doesn't bother me as he got no leeway because of Sampson's stuff before him

If you like unorganized and undisciplined basketball and no motion on offense, he is your guy.

Just for fun, go to the Indiana Rivals site and ask on their public board what their thoughts are on Mike Davis.

By the way, Mike Davis has a final four on his resume, so he is clearly an upgrade over Stans.

Please God, hire Mike Davis.

He recruited Moye, Jeffries and Newton.

I played cards with Tom Coverdale about two years after he graduated and the fact that he was the starting PG for a team that made it to the final four was beyond amazing.

But how about Tommy Amaker at Harvard. I know he was not tremendously successful at Seton Hall (one Sweet 16) or Michigan (won the NIT) but the guy has won at Harvard of all places so he must have learned something from Coach K.

Native Mississippian, rebuilt the Iowa State program and was on the brink of much bigger things before he foolishly left for the NBA. Then came back to college and rebuilt the USC program and took them to 3 straight NCAA tournaments before the athletic director threw the basketball program under the bus to try and save the football program. Also a high energy guy and great recruiter.

we might as well bring in Bruce Pearl and Kelvin Sampson in, too. Then go ahead and send Chamber of Commerce "Starkville new residents' guide" to the NCAA offices.

Sampson blatantly cheated twice doing the exact same thing and basically destroyed the Indiana program which took about 4 years for them to rebuild and Pearl has a 2 year show cause penalty. Floyd's troubles at USC were overblown and he was thrown under the bus by the athletic department that was trying to protect the football program.

I would love to see us go out and hire Tim Floyd and also snag Butch Pierre as his top assistant to keep recruiting strong in the state. We would not skip a beat as far as recruiting is concerned and Sidney might stay as he was originally recruited by Tim Floyd at USC.

you just called me a retired gay politician. How much you had to drink tonight? I'm guessing 6 Bud Light Platinums and 2 shots of Patrón.

Do you realize that before this season, KD was about to get ran out of MTSU before this season?<div>
</div><div>Kermit has been at MT for 10 years.....
<div>
</div><div>The attendance had dropped for 5 straight years under KD before this season.
<div>
</div><div>KD is the longest tenured coach at a school that plays football in the FBS that has not taken his team to the NCAA or NIT. That is 120 schools and he has been there longer than anyone without any tangible success.</div><div>
</div><div>KD is one of the 3 longest tenured coaches in all D-I (more than 340 teams) without an NIT or NCAA trip.</div><div>
</div><div>Before this season, KD has a 57% winning percentage at MT. If you take out wins against DII and NAIA schools, he has a 53% winning percentage at MT.</div><div>
</div><div>Before this season, KD had no 20 win seasons at MT, had not beaten a major program, or beaten an OOC team with an RPI better than 50.</div><div>
</div><div>He MTSU teams have lost to 10 teams with an RPI worse than 300. He team has lost to the worst rated team in DI before.</div><div>
</div><div>In 10 years, 6 different Sun Belt schools have taken almost 30 spots in the NCAA or NIT tournament. Kermit has not done this.</div><div>
</div><div>So what is different this year? LaRon Dendy fell into KD's lap. Transferring from Iowa St for his Sr. year, Dendy is the best player in the SB, POY. Dendy is for KD this year, what Lawrence Roberts was for Stansbury.</div><div>
</div><div>Without Dendy, MT doesn't get 20 wins again this year. When Dendy is gone next season, they will be back to mediocrity. They finally got to the NIT this year, but they MUST win the SB tourney to get to the NCAA because they choked in their last game of the year and had a horrible loss at Western Kentucky. No at large if they lose in the SB tourney. Best team Kermit ever had, and I expect him to choke, like every other chance he has had.</div><div>
</div><div>I know that KD would have been fired at MTSU prior to this season, but we (MTSU) didn't have the buyout money. MTSU AD Massaro essentially told several MTSU boosters, including myself this.</div><div>
</div><div>Stansbury is a better coach than KD, without question and it really isn't close.</div><div>
</div><div>
</div><div>
</div> </div></div>
