This is from a few years ago. She's at Duke now and has yet to do it in a game, but makes it look easier than any women's player I've seen. She's just 6'2"...

Is that the shortest woman dunker? That's actually pretty decent hops. I've known plenty of 6'2 guys that couldn't dunk.
Definitely agree.
From what I have seen from playing volleyball and basketball thru the last few decades, most 6'2 guys cant dunk. Like not even guys in good shape.
Dunking at 6'2 requires probably a 28" vert. It isnt the norm to have a 28" vert even for guys in good shape and in their 20s.

There are some videos of volleyball girls that actually have crazy hops. You would think with girls taking sports and training more seriously that they would develop.

Speaking of verticals, one of my favorite players as a kid was Darrell Griffith. I feel like he's largely forgotten by anybody who didn't see him play because his NBA career was cut short by injuries, but he was a great player.

Won the 1980 natty at Louisville and was the college POY in most votes.

Nickname was Dr. Dunkenstein. He was a 6'4" guard renowned for having a 48 inch vertical.

There was a picture of him back in the day defending an outside shooter and the distance of his feet off the ground is incredible. I tried and couldn't find it, but I'll keep looking ...

Louisville has a bunch of these around town of their famous athletes (Hornung, Justin Thomas, etc.) and this is his (what looks like trying to not hit his head on the rim).
Until a few years ago I always had in my mind it was Griff in the shot of my all time favorite SI cover. For as good as the writing was, the photography was even better. Just incredible shots across all sports you could lose yourself in just starring at the details. Kinda miss the days of waiting for mine to come.

That's cool. Louisville is a neat town.

I remember that pic of him dunking. I'm pretty sure he could get his head to the rim without pulling up in his prime.

Yeah. If you can dunk at 6’2” or even could in your prime you’re a stud. We had a guy on our HS school team back in the day who was 5’5” and could dunk. It was pretty awesome.

I'm 6'3 and could almost do the Vince Carter elbow in the rim during HS-just not quite as I recall. Dunked a weak one handed at 35 y/o when I was in semi decent shape and had been playing again with friends for a few months. 43 now and out of shape doubt I could touch the rim. In fact, I'm not sure I've even shot a ball since that summer at 35 lol. Of course, I weighed 165 at 18 and 225 now...not muscle ha
