and there is a thread on BDJ about Mullen waiting on an offer from Miami. Can't get much worse than what is being posted already, can it?

90% of the UT fans that I have talked to don't want to go to Jacksonville (or anywhere else, really besides Nashville). They are prepared to sell out the MCB, but are not enthusiastic at all about the Gator.

Complete bullshite.

My gf lives in Jax and so I wouldn't have to spend $$ on hotel room, plus SUSAN TEDESCHI and Derek Trucks Band are playing at the Florida Theater New Year's Eve. WIN-WIN.

"the Gator Bowl could wind up matching Michigan against either Tennessee or Georgia, after weeks of speculation that the game would get a national TV ratings blockbuster between Penn State and Florida."

I laughed out loud at this from the article. My TV will be on Alabama-Michigan St. I doubt there will be any ratings blockbuster outside of the local TN market.

The one negative for USC is that they just got their asses kicked in the Georgia Dome and their fans may not be enthusiastic about a return trip.

But when you consider that they are ranked higher, are a division winner, and it would match up Steve Spurrier with his old rival FSU, I can't blame the CFA for picking USC.

I never get my hopes up for anything related to MSU sports. We will always be someones whipping boy.

Hell my buddy from ATL has already given me 2 tickets row 10 on 50 for the Peach Bowl but I told him we probably will not get an invite.

the bowl system is the ultimate manifestation of the good-old-boy system in college athletics. It has NOTHING to do with putting the best product on the field (except for the BCS whose ONLY job is to pair #1 vs. #2 at the end). For years, the BCS system was essentially held hostage by a parade featuring floats made out of flowers. The ticket sale argument is invalid. The schools get what, 15,000 tickets at a time? What fanbase couldn't sell THAT out? Records mean jack squat once a team is eligible. Nobody cares that the SEC East sucks out loud this year, only that Michigan and Tennessee have more grads that will travel, more idiot bandwagon jumping fans at home, and more hungover louts coast-to-coast will tune in thinking "hey, it's just like Manning vs. Woodson!"

plays as shitastic as they have all season and those tv sets get turned off the game before the first quarter is over.

What I really want to hear is the NCAA and BCS telling me again that this bowl system is the best and most fair option for post season college football.
