I wanted them to put the caboose back in the junction during my stay in Starkville so badly. I think it would be great.

My favorite logo ever used by MSU was the apollo logo, but it nearly impossible to find anything ever using it. Not really that old, but still.

something to acknowledge the old tracks

would have been cool.

On another note and something I've always wanted to ask you, do have permission to use Garcia Berry's likeness? I ran across some case law a while back which suggested a person could sue for exploitative use of their image, regardless of whether it was been done for commercial purposes.

It doesn't bother me, just curious

Train tracks are laid in the sidewalks through the Junction...

Most people do not know they are there, but there are train tracks in all the sidewalks in the Junction where the tracks used to run, or would cross...

It is just tracks, they do not stand out like they should (like a crossing would look, with the black rubber like section in the middle). They really need to be more pronounced.

I don't, I pulled it off his 'website'. I don't know that I'm exploiting his image either. I'm worth exactly nothing and I gain nothing by using his photo. If I need to change it, I'll gladly do so, but I doubt Gerald cares.

let me emphasize that I couldn't care less............

about your use of the image. I don't dislike the man, but Gerald brings ridicule upon himself with his behavior. Still, you are probably exploiting Gerald. And you're right that he probably wouldn't care, unless he thought he could gain from it. Images of private citizens come and go on this place all the time, but that one is a constant presence.

Graduating Class 1927

If you could send me anything from the Class of 1927, it'd be fantastic. My great grandfather graduated in that class, rode onto campus on the train in fact.

Also, my grandaddy fell on the tracks when he was on the football practice squad in front of his future bride's parents and tore himself up pretty badly.

Not exactly University Archives related, but I thought i'd give it a try: When I was little, the fam and I would take that special Saturday trip to the big city of Columbus & get some serious shopping done. On 82 ,prolly halfway btween S'ville & C'bus, there was this old barn (dont think its there now) and my Dad would always say, "You can't see it now, but on the roof of that ol' barn, someone painted Go To Hell Bama. Yea, so everytime Bear & the boys would travel right by here headin into Starkville, they'd see that. Then whoop our asses." I figured some of you may remember that old barn. I really wish I could've seen it. Any chance there could be a pic of it anywhere??

I don't think I have a picture of it, but I do remember the barn but not what it said on it. It was west of the airport exit about 1/2 mile or so on the north side of the road just before you go down into Catalpa Creek bottom. I remember it falling down and rotting away, then finally the owners (which was King Ranch, yes the same folks owned it that owned the one in Texas) cleaned it up. In fact they may have repainted it years before with the KR logo, I just can't remember.

I was recreation director for the student union my senior year in 1969-70 and I booked some of that entertainment, including Willie Mosconi, the pool shark shown in one of the photos

Malfunction Junction back in the day. Not sure when. Somebody who knows cars might can give a good guess.

Notice the sign.

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe this that photo..

was taken from the Drill Field, facing southwest. The train would have run across the south portion of the Drill Field. You can notice the hill that slopes from McCool Hall/McCarthy down to Stone Blvd.

State's digital archives are pretty great. A couple of years back my brother found several photos of my grandparents and their land from when they were the "Farm Family of the Week" on one of the local TV stations. We had no idea about the segment, let alone the pictures--but my grandmother remembered it all when we asked.

I have the 1927 Reveille. Any other photos from campus around that time not already in the Reveille would be cool.

I've got a picture of the student body sitting on the drill field in front of Lee Hall dated 1921 in my office. It's long and no good way or I'd take a picture and put it up.

You guys should check out our Digital Archives page at the MSU Libraries: http://digital.library.msstate.edu/***/ua

One of our new features is a small collection on the MSU v. Loyola game.

We are in the process of adding thousands of new images. Hopefully by the end of this semester, early next semester you guys will see some great new stuff.
