what Mississippi State game of past do you show and why?

For me, it's 2000 Florida. I think that was the most fun college game because we just completely whipped the *** of the #3 ranked team in the nation that Saturday. That game and Auburn the next week (0 first downs allowed in the first half) were the height of the Sherrill era for me. We never expected to lose.

I lucked up by going to school from Fall of 97- Fall of 2001. That was some damn good football. Even though we sucked in fall of 2001, the excitement leading to it was fun.

the highlight of the punt return last year against OM was one of the most exciting plays I have been able to witness and seeing that on the big screen would be pretty awesome. i would definitely show it next year prior to the start of the egg bowl.

i was there from fall 98 to fall 02. the first 3 years were incredible. i do, however, have a horror story from that first year.

i had bought a plane ticket to fly back to texas to see my girlfriend and family. the weekend was dec. 5. back then, you had to buy the ticket 3 weeks early to get the cheap fare. well, after clint stoerner at UT and our wins, my friends ask "are you going to atlanta?" to which i respond "nah, i already have this plane ticket. i'll just go to the next one." hands down, worst decision ever made. except dating that other girl in college, but that's a whole nother story.

that was the perfect time to be at state - good football (mostly), baseball, and basketball, plus sanderson and the new intramural complex had just opened.

1998 Arkansas game ending with the Hazelwood FG to essentially win our way to Atlanta. Two 4th down conversions along the way. Still absolutely the most exciting game I've ever attended at Scott Field just because of what was riding on it.

to enjoy this time. He said it would not last. I argued that we were recruiting better every year and we should not see the end in sight. Boy was I wrong.

I am at work, so it is blocked for me now.

It is not associated with MSU football. You will have to search for parachute, fail, pwned, accident...something along those lines.

He clearly passes across the painted endzones and is filmed from the west side. There is no doubt when you find it.

From the Felker years we could show David Fair tripping over the chains and shredding his knee. Or Auburn blocking the extra point to beat us in 90. Or Hank Phillips' TD dive to beat La Tech in the rain in what would become Tech and 10. Or MRob destroying defensive linemen. Or Starkville's own John Sullins playing for Bama and declaring mid-week we would not score, then coming to Starkville and administering a worse-than-it-sounds 22-0 thumping of us. Or Tony Shell passing for 800 yards and 12 touchdowns and us still losing to Georgia. Or Tay Galloway running up the middle. From the Sherrill years we could show the Memphis RB breaking a 4th and 1 dive play for 40 yards and the game-clinching TD.

Why is the bad things stand out more? Maybe it's the sheer volume.

that was in school from 95-99. Talk about the pinnacle of all MSU sports (Final Four, SEC Championship, and CWS. Lucky bastard. I get stuck with being in school from 02-06. 1 basketball championship. Wooooo.

Edited to add: I would show the pick 6 from last year's Alabama game, the Ole Miss punt return, the 98 Arkansas game, and the entire 8-0 start to 1999. Pre-game would last a little while but it'd be fun.

Quoted for mother<17>ing truth....

I was in the Dawg Pound behind the endzone when the center snapped the ball over the QB's head...the ole Ball Coach lost it, the visor went flying...the rest is history. What a great time to be a bulldog...

I was at State from 96-00. To me that game was the pinnacle of our success. We finally had a game where we could come back and shut Ole Miss fans up when they talk about "how cool it was when the wind knocked down that FG".

Plus, it was my last home football game as a senior. That game stands out because there were so many outstanding efforts by so many players- Smoot, Bean, Westerfield, Madkin, Sirmones, Dicenzo, Lee- I could go on.

Eugene Clinton!!! This guy played tough all through his career and I'm glad he's part of one of the greatest plays in our school's history.

Those were exciting times too. Following years of losing, The Kang steps in and makes us an instant winner. He not only has winning seasons, but most of the loses, even against national champions, were down to the wire. We all believed we were a player away from winning the SEC.
