Credit to KYWILDCATSTV and KSR, but everyone needs to watch this video and see a reminder that Stoops is not Joker. He has passion and the drive to get the job done here. He has been willing to get down and dirty himself with the defense to take sole responsibility for cleaning it up. I for one hope he succeeds, but even if he doesn't I know that he has given it 110%.

The entire video is a great watch, but especially Stoops' speeches at the start and end.

Let's get something straight: Joker was so bad that almost any head coach out there is better than him. But that doesn't mean that Stoops is the right choice. So far he's 14-26 as UK head coach. That's a LOSING record. He may have the drive, but so far he doesn't appear to have the ability.

It's a false equivalence to conclude that Stoops is the right choice just because he's better than Joker, and that's not even an established fact at this point.

The SoMiss game left a terrible taste in my mouth. I wanted him gone immediately but I have come around.

Under Stoops the program has shown improvements in many aspects from the new facilities to recruiting to the record.. he has gone 2-10 to 5-7 to 5-7. If he wins 6 this year I would feel comfortable saying he is our guy (again).

Would love to see us play with that passion, focus and edge week in and week out. I know it was a bad SCAR team but there was a different intensity and mindset with the players and coaches last week I don't care what anyone says. It wasn't about star rankings or talent, it was about a toughness and consistency and never say die attitude that we've seldom seen the last few years.

With that type of attitude and intensity we are a bowl team the last two years, but keeping that focus and edge consistently has been the issue since Stoops has been here. We always see flashes but it's almost always only for a quarter or a half. I wish it didn't take our backs being up against the wall to come out and play with an edge because there's no excuse not to come out and play with that kind of fire every single week. That doesn't require talent and there are a whole lot of wins that are right at your fingertips on this schedule if you see that kind of passion and focus from our coaches and players on a weekly basis.

All they're doing is giving fans a false hope which Bama will destroy when they kick us in the balls on Saturday.
Ala has a winning record against every team in the sec not named Missouri and almost all of them are by double digits so what is your point? Those of you picturing them as our standard barer are doing UK a diservice

My point is, pushing some sort of false narrative that we've turned a corner just because we beat a **** team is fool's gold, and all it does is get people's hopes up only to dash them when reality comes crashing down again.

Could someone please explain to me how Stoops gets to take credit for the new facilities?

I don't think anyone has questioned Mark Stoops work ethic or desire to win.
Unfortunately, neither characteristic equates to actually winning at UK.

I loved watching Stoops speak to the defensive backs. I'd love to see us keep it somewhat close this weekend, build a little momentum going into Vandy game. 40-20?

This correlation.

Private dollars only appeared after Stoops became our coach. Private money was hard to come by for Curry, Mumme, Morris, Brooks, and joker. The second Stoops became our HC private money began to flood the program.

Is that difficult for you to understand?

It was the long overdue realization by an AD that it would be a necessity if UK even dreams of ever competing. It was going to happen no matter who the AD brought in to coach.

That is your opinion and you may be correct.

Fact remains. The money was there for Stoops, but no one else.

I never said Stoops should be considered the right choice because he isn't as bad as Joker. I simply said he is not Joker in the sense that he actually cares about succeeding. Toward the end of his tenure you could see that Joker simply did not have the passion to fight for his job. Stoops is giving his all to get this team to the next step. Whether he has the coaching ability to do so so far shows negative signs, but what I do know is he is giving it his all and that to me means we need to give him and this team our support while he is still the HC of our Kentucky Wildcats.

You said he has the passion and the drive to get it done here. Fair enough though, I agree with you that Joker was not as strong a personality.

He gets at least partial credit.

The CWS renovations cam at a time when UK had just liquidated a bunch of bond debt and had the bonding capacity to invest $120M in stadium improvements. I'm sure Stoops was active in any promotions to sell the high end seating which will pay for the stadium debt as long as they are purchased each year. In addition to the CWS renovation the UKAA agreed to fund ~$60M of the cost of a new educational building, presumably from their ~$10M/yr windfall from the SECN (IOW, most of that windfall went to an academic project, not an athletic project).

The $45M training center was something different. That was all private money and I'm sure Stoops did some stuff get those donations.

Peace

Joker's first mistake is dumping all of CRB's staff and hiring his friends...outside of Brown, Stoop's also brought in young, inexperienced guys.

Point being, there's a lot more to running a program than coaching. These "young" guys in their first time gigs should probably have some experienced guys on the staff to help them with the in's and out's. No doubt in my mind that Mark Stoops has the fire but, like Joker, should have kept or brought in someone like Otmeyer.

We have a steady, older hand around now in Coach Gran, based on resume and what I've seen so far, though admittedly not quite as long in the tooth as Coach O.

I would have liked to see some of this passion from Eliot. I just don't believe he has it in him to be a hard driving, demonstrative leader/coach. Go Cats!!

I think that was one of the promises that MB made to him during the hiring process. You would think that should have happened anyway but maybe Stoops pushed for certainty that it would happen.

Great video. I'll give Stoops one thing, he's passionate. Emotion can only carry you so far though. 8 games left. We'll see.
