We are now at $34T in debt and paid $658B in interest alone in 2023. That’s 2.4% of our total US budget. If we don’t shrink our debt, we’ll enter a situation where we will not be able to settle our obligations - we’ll default on our loans.
But… those tax cuts are set to expire in 2025.
And… Trump’s #1 goal is to extend those tax cuts! so, how does he intend to extend his tax cuts for the rich! (Btw - if your a Trojan and live in California, you very likely own a million dollar home or two? How did those Trump tax cuts work for your mortgage interest and property tax credits??)
1. Raise taxes on those that Trump doesn’t care about… basically anyone else but Trump? This means you and me - middle to upper class? Not the ultra-rich.
2. Cut entitlements? The only place to cut would be Medicare and Social Security? I agree that we should set retirement at 67. But, we would have to cut DEEPER! Any deeper is political suicide that no one wants to touch!
3. Default on our govt debts?
Biden… he is partly to blame with those idiotic covid relief plans and student debt forgiveness. (But, the CHIPS Act was an absolute home run needed to counter China.).
I believe Biden is pandering in order to win a 2nd term and his ultimate goal… enter the pantheon of US History - a second term presidency. Once he gets his second term, I believe he’ll relent and agree to the congressional tax committee’s recommendations. And I believe the committee’s recommendations will cut to the bone on both sides of the political spectrum; tax increases for the rich and cuts to entitlements.
DO YOU HONESTLY BELIEVE TRUMP WILL ACT MAGNANIMOUSLY!?! Do the right thing and increase taxes on himself??? If so, you’re only fooling yourself!!
