Us getting Demarcus Cousin's cell phone number is one thing. But to put Meyer's home address out there is crossing the line. I think they are starting to crack under all of this and we are getting to see who the Auburn fan base truly is, which is a bunch of chip on their shoulder fans that think they deserve to be in the ranks with Alabama but act like they haven't been at the top before, mostly because they haven't been. The longer this goes on, the worse Auburn fans are going to look. </p>

When Meyer released Newton, here is what went down.

He was charged with a felony for the computer theft. Meyer, already having determined he was going to let Cam go, agreed to help Cam get it reduced to a misdemeanor. He did this, sent Cam on his way to Blinn, with one condition. He told Cam he would only do this if the Newton's gave him their word that Cam wouldn't end up back in the SEC. Cam and Cecil both agreed.

In September last year, Chizik called Meyer to ask about Newton, not aware of the agreement. Meyer immediately told him that he had an agreement with the Newton's that in helping Cam with the charges, Cam wouldn't come back to the SEC. Chizik, in so many words, told Meyer "tough ****", we are going to recruit him.

Look, Meyer is a sh*thole, no doubt. But, he did do this to help a kid when he didn't have to, and the kid and his father went back on their word. I don't blame him a bit for turning this in to the NCAA. It's also, IMO, why State is involved. Mullen knew of the agreement, as well, and continued to recruit Newton. Right or wrong, he knew. This is one reason why I don't think you EVER have to worry about Mullen to FL. Meyer, after this situation, will never give Mullen a "thumbs up" to the FL administration, after he feels that a guy he brought as far as he brought Mullen, continued to recruit a kid when he knew of the agreement.

Also, and just to add a little fuel to the fire, Kiffin was involved, as well. He made sure the NCAA knew about all of this. Not sure how he knew, but he did. He is the "3rd party" you hear about quite often.

If there was an agreement, why would we have been recruiting him? We're in the SEC and ACTUALLY PLAYED FLORIDA THIS YEAR.

Amazing how many folks suddenly know everything in a situation like this.

People expect there to be a gentlemen's agreement, and I guess there is to an extent.

That's why they get mad when someone blows the whistle. Even though it could be avoided by just not cheating, I guess that's not really an option.

Im simply telling you what happened. It's your choice to believe it or not. No sweat off my back, either way.

But, to answer your question as to why you would recruit him? Let's see.....because he is one of the best players in the country, and Mullen knew that? Im not blaming Mullen at all. I would have done the same thing. I'm just telling you that Mullen knew, and recruited him, anyway. This is college football at the highest levels. Gentlemen agreements only go so far when guys have their careers as HC's on the line.

I could actually see this story having some merit to it becayse Meyer has proved to be a guy that you don't want to cross. I seem to remember a somewhat similar scenario that played out with Patrick Peterson from LSU when he was a high school senior. Peterson was a December grad (I think) and had comitted to Florida only to change his mind at the last minute and sign with LSU. Shortly after, it was reported that Urban Meyer alerted the NCAA that Peterson's transcripts had been altered and that he should be declared ineligible. Sure enough, the NCAA got involved and Peterson ended up sitting out that entire year. So, with all factors considered, I think Newton could only come back to the SEC and crossUrban Meyer if:

1. He was recruited cleanly by a team that ran the spread and was a QB away from making a big splash in the SEC - see MSU. If Urban blows the whistle on this scenario, then it doesn't really matter what happened during his time at Florida.

2. He went to a place where he could make a big splash and declare for the draft after one year, and if things went south, the family would 180K reasons to be able to live with it - see Auburn. If Urban blows the whistle on this scenario, all h@#& breaks loose. <====== Winner!

The agreement was between Meyer and Cam, Not Mullen and Cam. Mullen did nothing wrong here, plus he backed away when he thought (right or wrong) that Cam was seeking $180,000 to sign.

Summary: We did nothing wrong and apparently, everything proper and correct.

Speculation on my part, but I question if Mullen knew anything about any agreement between Cam and Meyer. I see no reason why that agreement wold have been made public or shared with anyone.
