the precedent is still there for the committee to eliminate a 13-1/13-0 conference champion if they are missing a key piece of the team that got them there

If they were on the bubble I could see it but it’s hard for me to see them drop completely out. McMurphy did say earlier in the week that the committee could drop them 2-3 spots if Kiffin were to leave which I think is absolutely on the table. If there was a mass exodus of players then maaaaybe there’s conversations.
