It's extremely likely, especially if Alabama beats Georgia in the SEC Championship.

If BYU wins, one of the "locks" is out. Oregon, Oklahoma, Ole Miss or Notre Dame.

As an older gentleman (ok, redneck), I find it funny that Ole Miss fans, with an 11-1 playoff bound team who just curb stomped their arch rival, are way madder and sadder than Mississippi State fans right now.

My experienced takeaway:

We all continue to be bored, pathetic idiots for caring so much about this ****. It rarely makes our life better. Go volunteer at a shelter. Or just drink beer and watch YouTube food videos on your porch.

Wait til the committee gives their host slot to Notre Dame due to the absence of their head coach and entire offensive staff.

I’ve heard some in Oxford think that’s a real possibility.
And this is why I think they should have moved on the moment they k knew he was gone……they could have salvaged something for the playoff

at this point, I don’t see them getting in

I understand what you are saying. When we look at the staff we have coming back next year, we are still staring down the barrel of another lost season. OTOH, I can’t stop laughing at the thought of Northern Miss putting all that money and effort the last several years for a playoff berth and getting snubbed both years. We are talking at least $25 million both seasons just on NIL that those a$$hats literally set on fire.

Yeah I’m laughing my *** off at their 32 wins the last 3 years. It’s 17ing hilarious. Much better to have 12 wins in 3 years & keep your head coach. **

Valid. But in the absence of competence in the Bryan Building, I’m ok with enjoying their implosion with nothing to show for it but a Gator Bowl and whatever non-CFB bowl they get this year.

I would just like to say in this time of chaos in the college football world how thankful and proud I am for the leadership and stability in our program.................I need a drink.

Depending on that ACC Championship it really comes a possibility they use this as excuse to get Miami into the playoff. Plus, there is Vandy and TX sitting there waiting.

Having your best season ever, but your coach leaves so you get left out of the playoffs would be rhe most Mississippi State thing ever....I guess they say WAOM???

I think they get in, and that most of the country pulls for them out of sympathy.

Maybe this gives college football a clear test case, of why college football is completely broken,
Actually all college sports. It has completely blown up.

It had to happen to somebody.
Yep, it would be certainly unfair to them, but hey, they are Ole Miss. I guess they'll jump in our boat to include one of the most iconic sayings ....."That was the most ReBearSharkian thangs Ever!!

I think them being left out of the playoff entirely is on the table at this point, especially if the majority of their offensive coaching staff leaves.
Might be, but for the integrity of the game, no way that should happen to a team that honestly deserves to be included. I won't cry myself to sleep if it happens.

If a portion of the OM team leave immediately or sit out they will just be paired up with Notre Dame in order to guarantee that ND goes deeper in the playoffs.

I'm thinking them giving all these coaches that stayed, a new contract for double their present salary (assuming the rumors are true) and then them getting left out of the playoff could be awfully entertaining

FSU was 13-1, 13-0 regular season and left out
Of a 4-team playoff, not a 12-team one, genius.

A lot of social media comments doubting ole Miss getting in when missing : HC, OC co-OC and WR coach. That’s a legit question. There’s going to be a lot of pressure for Miami or OU to get in instead of them.

If they were on the bubble I could see it but it’s hard for me to see them drop completely out. McMurphy did say earlier in the week that the committee could drop them 2-3 spots if Kiffin were to leave which I think is absolutely on the table. If there was a mass exodus of players then maaaaybe there’s conversations.
