if he thinks he has a chance to go- Sidney will be gone...and some dumb GM will draft him on upside alone...and in the NBA, they get them all day long to work with them

Long way to go, and lighting up Ole Miss isn't quite enough to put on the resume.

<div>I mean he had a good game against a BAD team.</div><div>
</div>One and done? Hell he is still WAY out of shape, plays zero defense, has what the rest of the world sees as a huge attitude problem as seen by the rumble in Hawaii, and still is raw as hell. There is not a shot he can put up right now that Varnado wouldn't have put in another zip code if they played in a scrimmage.<div>
</div><div>He has a ton of talent no doubt. But as of right now, he would be in Europe or wherever. He won't see an NBA court with his feet glued to the floor and just letting people come around him at the first hint of him being beat. The team would then become a 4 player team with a statue in the lane on defense. The only player that can get away with that is Shaq..... and he is no Shaq.</div><div>
</div><div>There will be no NBA for him next year unless he has a huge change in attitude and some quick weight management. To be in the NBA you have to play and not watch and they aren't going to play straight zone all night in the NBA so Sidney can catch is breath in the middle of a 2-3.</div>

Unless he gets is *** in shape real fast - not going to happen.

And if he isn't in shape next year, he'll still be nothing more than a late round project player.

Someone on this board wagered we'd have no NBA players on this roster--they wagered a testicle if I remember correctly...

...they don't let you stand in the lane and play almost no defense in the NBA.<div>
</div><div>Sidney had his best game ever last night. Good for him. Good for the Dogs.</div><div>
</div><div>But there are guys who've had better nights who never wore an NBA jersey. Let's let the whole season play out before we start talking about the draft.</div><div>
</div><div>Hell, let's let him have two good games in a row first...</div><div>
</div><div>The star last night was Bost. He was blowing by defenders and distributing it all over the place.</div>

That would be my gonad that was wagered. Sidney played well last night but he is still light years away from NBA ready. Those 5 boards in 36 minutes are not going to impress an NBA scout. Also, it has only been a few days since Sid managed a whopping 2 pts against Green for Alabama.

RSS can be out of shape and lazy and still have a pretty good game against college competition, and can show that he has the physical ability to play in the NBA. You're not retiring 60 players out of theNBA each year. Most of the people you draft are going to be busts and there aren't really even 60 players in the draft each year with NBA athletic ability, so lots of really long shots are drafted. RSS has the tools to be in the NBA. Somebody will draft him and hope he decides to get his *** in gear. It's a lot bettershot than hoping somebody with marginal talent somehow improves or finds the right spot on the right team. If RSS plays like he did last night, even if he's lazy on defense and has a general attitude problem, somebody will draft him in the first round and he will get guaranteed money, which will probably make it less likely that he gets his *** in gear.</p>

My bet was that none of our players will ever make an NBA roster. I don't have much doubt that Sidney might get drafted but as we have seen with Rhodes, Austin, and Jarvis, that does not mean you will make it onto the team.

The NBA drafts on potential, and boy does the RSS have it. Last night was what his 5th game of the year, come back on here in March and tell me that the RSS doesn't have a shot in the NBA.. I might be wrong, but I think not...

The reason his rebounding suffers is his weight, he simply gets tired and can't exert the effort to jump or move for a board. Lose 30 pounds and do some windsprints--this guy is going to be a beast (although he's just enough of a jackass that he still might manage to screw this up).

It may be a stupid decision, but somebody will draft him in the first round, and he will at least get to sit his fat *** on the bench. Just too few people with bodies like his to pass up on.</p>

that will let him play in the middle of a 2-3 zone most of the game? Wake me up when he shows that he can score 20 and play even mediocre man-to-man defense in the same game for more than 15 minutes. 'Til then, I'm not sold on him or this joke of a team.

If you watched the game and did not see a glimpse of what the RSS could be come then you are blind. He just needs to get motivated and get in better shape, the rest will come. He has great vision on the court, and a smooth outside stroke. The NBA loves Big men that can hit the 3 ball. If he keeps playing like last night and losses a few pounds the rebounds and blocks will come. He will get drafted on potential in the first round and sit on an NBA bench in the near future. If he really wants it, you might see him in a starting NBA lineup in 3 years.

"If he really wants it"......that is the key. Hell Ray Charles could see the talent and the potential and he very likely will get drafted. However the NBA is about money and if Sid does not do something about his maturity, attitude, and weight problem then no one is going to spend money to keep him on a roster.

Getting drafted and making a roster are two different things. I hope I am wrong. I would love to see Sid get his crap together even though I would miss my nut.

Dante walker had NFL talent too didn't he? But attitude and lack of discipline put him in the Mississippi state department of corrections intramurals.

One good game and we are ready to crown him a good NBA center. And that's after a few very lackluster games.

but he has a lot of baggage, a bad attitude, conditioning problems, and he has a whopping 23 boards in 4 games.

I could see somebody taking a flyer on him late in the first round, but there's no way in hell I'd do it as a GM right now. That could all change as the season progresses, but as of now, he would be a huge gamble in the first round. I just don't know if there are any teams that will take that gamble.

Right now, I'd say he's 60/40 on coming back next year.

Of course, if he's stupid enough to go without a first round gaurantee, or knowing he'll be a 2'nd rounder...then this all goes out the window and he's definitely gone.

Edited to add: I just looked at several mock drafts and no one has him higher than 50th. Right now, he's a very late 2nd rounder.

Sidney could easily get kicked off the team, gain 50 pounds, and end up driving a truck for a living. I mean, the guy is a total nutjob, clearly. <div>
</div><div>But, right now, I think most would agree that it is "likely" that Sidney will make a roster at some point.</div>

If they SOB keeps his bearings, gets into shape and play hard like last night, he is a unstop able force in the NCAA. If he plays like that for the remaining of the season, his *** is in the NBA. He might not be1st roundmoney but he will be on a roster.

THere are only two rounds....so reference to "late rounds"...I don't understand. If you are drafted in the 1st round, you get a guaranteed multiyear contract. Basically you are a millionaire. Lottery gets you a bunch of money, but 1st round gets you guaranteed multiyear. 2nd round and you get nothing. If you come into camp fat, they cut you and you go to greece or russia and are never heard from again.

Sidney would be a fool to go after this year unless someone tells him he will for sure be a first rounder, which probably will NOT happen. He can get his fat *** into shape and be a for sure first rounder next year. This is the same mistake Mario Austin made. He went in second round and his life went downhill from there. you gotta get into the first round, or you are set up for disaster. With the NBA, most people get drafted and then never really get another contract, so getting that first multi-year deal is the key to not having a disastrous, regretful life.

The total number of players in the NBA is very low. It's extremely difficult and low probability to have a sustained career. Don't be a fool Sidney, get that money with that first round pick.
