Officials at the New Orleans bowl had contacted the SEC before our game with Arkansas in case of a "what if MSU beats Arkansas and Ole Miss" scenario. It would have placed us at 6-6, and placed us as an 11th SEC team bowl-eligible.

Their intent was to work out a deal sending the Sun Belt champion to the St. Petersburg Bowl (which has a Sun Belt #2 or C-USA tie-in) and get Mississippi State to the New Orleans Bowl to play Southern Miss.

Of course, we lost to Arkansas and that was that.

We should be there then.

Make one damn play vs LSU and/or beat Houston. DAMN IT! We should have beaten both of them. LSU was just disappointing. The Houston loss pisses me off still. UTEP, UCF, East Carolina got the job done......but those MFers beat us every damn time we play. If we don't go down to Houston fired up and pissed off next year.......don't EVER, EVER schedule them again.

If the entire conference went 6-6 every single one of them would find a bowl.

Had that worked out it would've been HUGE for State and the New Orleans Bowl.

The New Orleans Bowl would have been licking their chops for this. Hell, they would just like to get State, much less a USM-State matchup. I do not see how that bowl, or the many others, make it with abysmal attendance and crappy match ups.
