Is the "ignore" feature active? If so, is the default set to JR, or do we have to manually set it?

It's active. It will "minimize" the person's post in the thread. You will still be able to see that they posted but the post body won't be there.
You probably have to set it. The whole JR thing........what happened in the last couple weeks that even replying to his dumb *** gets you banned? I thought he wasn't thrown out with the trash because HD6 thought that he at least was making a fight backed by some knowledge. Did he finally find out that JR's just a douche?
