As new Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer gets to work on his first recruiting class in Tuscaloosa, an early spring visit is coming from a four-star Texas commit.

Melbourne (Fla.) Eau Gallie defensive lineman Brandon Brown posted on social media that he will be in Tuscaloosa on Friday.

Brown is the nation’s No. 308 overall prospect and No. 28 defensive lineman in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

On3 rates Brown higher than the other major recruiting services. He ranks No. 205 overall and No. 19 among defensive linemen in the 2025 On300.

Alabama currently ranks No. 11 in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings behind three commitments. Saraland (Ala.) four-star defensive lineman Antonio Coleman flipped from Auburn to ‘Bama last week — just months after flipping the previous way.

Coleman is joined by Pike Road (Ala.) Carver top-100 running back Anthony Rogers and Brewton (Ala.) Ty Miller three-star linebacker Myles Johnson.

More on Brandon Brown’s recruitment

Brown pledged to Texas in December, choosing the Longhorns Miami, UCF, Florida, Florida State, Georgia and others. A major reason for Brown choosing Texas was Longhorns defensive line coach Bo Davis. Davis has since left Austin for the same role at LSU.

“Texas just seemed to fit me and my family,” Brown told Inside Texas at the time of his commitment. “I feel like if you’re an elite DT, why wouldn’t you want to play at Texas with Coach (Bo) Davis? He has two first-round picks right now.”

With Davis now in Baton Rouge, Brown is a top flip target for the Tigers. Looking east, Brown also told Gators Online that Florida has been recruiting him harder as of late.

“They just keep trying to get me there,” Brown told Gators Online. “Trying to get me on the phone more and everything. I feel like they’re good coaches. I haven’t talked to them for real yet. I’m trying to get there and see the vibe in person.”

One-time Florida defensive tackle Joe Cohen is Brown’s uncle. Another Gators great, safety Marcus Maye, is his cousin.

“I feel they could improve with me and with me growing up they were my dream school,” Brown said of the Gators. “I want them to win.”
