Brandon Miller discusses how Alabama can get back on track

Brandon Miller and Alabama got a taste of their own medicine this weekend. Their tough pill to swallow came in the form of a 24-point blowout to Oklahoma in Norman as the nation’s No. 2 team.
After getting a better sense of their own mortality, Miller said that the Tide have gone back to square one. He says they’ve committed themselves to coming into their practices the last few days with the right mindset and effort in order to right Saturday’s wrong come their next game against Vanderbilt on Tuesday night.
“I think right now we’re going back to the basics,” Miller said on Monday. “I mean losing happens. Now it’s just how we respond to losing. So we’re just getting back to the basics.”
“We’ve responded how we’ve needed to. Just working hard the next day in practice. I think that’s the biggest thing,” said Miller. “Working hard the next day in practice, trying to get better, and just moving on to the next game. (We) play tomorrow against a good Vandy team. I feel like we’re gonna come out with all the energy and just do our best to get a win.”
After winning eight straight by double digits, the Tide got their first sign of things to come when Mississippi State came into Tuscaloosa and nearly knocked them off. While Alabama came back to win, it turned out to be a precursor for what would happen against the Sooners.

OU sprinted away from them to end the first half and never looked back over the final 20 minutes. Overall, the Tide gave up 93 points as the Sooners shot 57.6% from the field and 69.2% from three. Meanwhile, Alabama shot just 37.9% from the field and only 27.3% from distance to score only 69.
Following that kind of performance, Miller continued to harp on the importance of Alabama slowing down and going back to the start. That’s what he says it’ll take in order to regroup and return to form against the Commodores this evening.
“Like I said, we’re just going back to the basics,” said Miller. “Just kind of getting together to build up an even stronger bond to come out the next game even stronger and with more energy to just get a win.”
