Geno VanDeMark, Qua Russaw, Danny Lewis injury updates: Kalen DeBoer provides latest on multiple Alabama players

The Alabama Crimson Tide are coming off a bye week and turning their attention to the final push for the regular season. As that page turns to November, head coach Kalen DeBoer is looking to put the healthiest team on the field that he possibly can moving forward.
During his press conference on Monday, DeBoer shared the latest in an injury update on multiple Alabama players. That started with Geno VanDeMark, an offensive lineman who first appeared on the injury report before the South Carolina game two weeks ago. Ultimately, he didn’t play in the game.
“Yup, VanDeMark is making good progress,” Kalen DeBoer said. “Been practicing this last week. So, I expect him to be ready to go.”
A longer-term injury has been that of linebacker Qua Russaw. He broke his foot on September 27th against Georgia and hasn’t been able to play since. It’s still unclear when he’ll be back on the field, but at the very least, he is trending in the right direction.
“Qua has made, I think I mentioned last week, has made good progress. That continues to be the case. Probably don’t expect him to be ready to go this weekend,” DeBoer said. “But he’s doing a lot more than he has, and it’s very promising with the direction he’s been going.”
Finally, Kalen DeBoer turned his attention to Alabama tight end Danny Lewis. He’s been banged up throughout the season, costing him three games. That includes the last two games against Tennessee and South Carolina, respectively. Now, there’s hope for him to bounce back following the bye week.

“Then, Danney Lewis, we’ll see how things go through this week,” DeBoer said. “But the bye week was certainly good. He was able to play the previous week. So, I’m hopeful that he’ll be ready to go, but expect to be on the football field practicing with us more this week than he has the previous two.”
Kalen DeBoer issues statement on Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. arrest, suspension
Alabama sophomore defensive back Dre Kirkpatrick was arrested on Monday on three counts of reckless endangerment and one count of attempting to elude and speeding. Now, he faces an indefinite suspension from the team, which DeBoer briefly addressed on Monday.
“Unfortunately, with the information I have at this time, talked to Dre, and we need to indefinitely suspend him,” DeBoer said. “He understands there are consequences that come with his actions.”
Alabama will be back in action against LSU on Saturday. That’s a home game in Tuscaloosa with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m. EST.
