There’s a stark difference between losing to or beating Texas if you’re Alabama, but don’t worry fans, Tim Tebow has a good reason.

The former Heisman Trophy winner took a look at the tape of the Crimson Tide’s loss to the Longhorns and saw a lot of good things. Just a few small fixes and Alabama is back in the College Football Playoff mix.

Tebow joined On3 for an exclusive conversation and detailed what he saw out of Alabama, despite the team’s loss in Tuscaloosa.

“Alabama is not that far off,” Tebow said. “Like you go back and look at the film, and I just did yesterday, and look at the all-22 copy: two touchdowns called back, multiple opportunities that were missed, multiple wheel routes that they had set up that they just missed by inches.

“So I think if you’re an Alabama fan, it’s definitely disappointing, but it’s not the end of the world. You still have a really good team that didn’t play their best and can get a lot better and that should be encouraging.”

Jalen Milroe made some nice throws, but as Tebow alluded to, made some mistakes and had some misses. He went 14-of-27 passing for 255 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. He also ran for 45 yards on the ground.

The run game didn’t get going for Alabama either, as Jase McClellan led the way with just 12 carries for 45 yards. But as Tebow alluded to, Alabama fans shouldn’t get too discouraged either.

Tim Tebow still high on Alabama following upset loss

With South Florida up next, head coach Nick Saban said pretty much what Tebow evaluated in the game.

“I don’t think it’s any huge secret or anything that we did not execute on a consistent enough basis in this last game,” Saban said. “Too many turnovers, penalties, mental errors on defense, sacks and things that are helpful in being consistent, in terms of whether it’s sustaining drives, not giving up big plays that lead to field position and scores. So the focus is 100 percent on how we get it turned around. The future is now. So how do we get our players to …

“We’ve got to do a better job as coaches to help them be able to play better more consistently in the game. Put them in a position where they have the best chance to be successful. But I think all these things are very fixable. I believe in our players. I think we’ve got good players.”

Tim Tebow is working with the 22 student-athletes named to the AFCA Good Works Team and have changed lives by mentoring youth, feeding the hungry and donating their earnings. Some even established their own nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations – all while achieving high academic honors. The final team was selected out of 136 student-athletes who were nominated from across the county. Fans will be able to vote for the 2023 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team captain through Nov. 22.
