Arkansas fans boo Razorbacks, Sam Pittman after Notre Dame extends lead

A warm fall day in Fayetteville turned into a scorching one for the Razorbacks and head coach Sam Pittman during Week 6. Boos rained down by fans inside Razorback Stadium amid Arkansas‘ poor first half performance against Notre Dame on Saturday.
What was an excited, packed house in Fayetteville before kickoff let their team — and head coach — know how they feel. The fans were ruthless after the Fighting Irish took a three-score lead in the second quarter capped by a 34-yard touchdown pass on a throwback to Jeremiyah Love.
The fan’s boos came down following a first half performance that saw Notre Dame total 420 yards of total offense against the Razorbacks’ defense. Quarterback CJ Carr threw for 294 yards and four touchdowns during the first two quarters, while Arkansas also gave up 126 yards on the ground. Love scored two of his touchdowns through the air and the other two on the ground.
Meanwhile, Arkansas was held to 6-of-15 passing for 85 yards during the first half. QB Taylen Green struggled to find a rhythm through the air, but led the team in rushing at halftime with 58 yards. Though, most of that came on a 54-yard rush.
“Sam Pittman told me there was a lot of emotion in the locker room at halftime and he said, ‘We have to play better,’ and the frustration really boiling over when it comes to the defense,” sideline reporter Taylor McGregor said on the ABC broadcast. “He said, ‘It’s been the same story now for three weeks. We have not been able to stop the run.’

“He said, ‘We’ve tried everything.’ So they’re going to try a little bit of man-to-man coverage. He said, ‘We can’t stop the run unless we add an extra man in the box.’ So we’ll see if that happens. But it is frustrating down here for the Arkansas Razorbacks.”
With the game being so lopsided in favor of Notre Dame, it’s clear that fans are frustrated as well. In turn, fans are likely curious to know what Pittman’s buyout looks like.
According to On3’s Pete Nakos, Pittman’s buyout is different than most. If Pittman sits at or above .500 since 2021 (currently 29-26), then he’s owned 75% of his remaining salary if fired before Oct. 1. That would be $9.8 million. If he drops below .500, the buyout will be dropped to $6.9 million (50% of his remaining salary).
