Arkansas guard Casmir Chavis plans to enter NCAA Transfer Portal

Arkansas guard Casmir Chavis plans to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal. Chavis only appeared in one game for the Razorbacks this season.
In his lone appearance of the season, Chavis recorded two points in six minutes of action against Maryland Eastern Shore. He also reeled in a rebound and shot 1-3 from the field.
Casmir Chavis played high school basketball at Park Center (MN), where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 179 overall player and No. 28 point guard in the 2024 recruiting cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
In his senior year, Chavis averaged 23.5 points, 6.9 rebounds, 6.4 assists and 2.5 steals per game. For his efforts, he was named a AAAA first-team All-State selection and overall Senior All-State team honoree. He was one of five finalists for the Minnesota Mr. Basketball.

“I decided to choose Arkansas because the development I can get from the coaching staff is one of the best in the country and how good the community is towards the team,” Chavis said about his decision to commit to the Razorbacks. “Plus the relationship we built made it better just getting to know each other. Coach Calipari has been able to get previous players in my position to the NBA so that’s why I ended up choosing Arkansas.”
Now, Chavis will look to take his talents elsewhere. He is the first Arkansas player to enter the transfer portal this offseason.
