Jalen Brown injury update: Sam Pittman reveals brutal diagnosis for Arkansas WR after being carted off field

Arkansas wide receiver Jalen Brown suffered a broken tibia and fibula during Saturday’s game against Notre Dame, Razorbacks coach Sam Pittman told reporters. Brown headed to the hospital for further evaluation after immediately being carted off the field.
As he went for a touchdown in the third quarter of Saturday’s game, Brown hit the ground and quickly grabbed his leg. His teammates then surrounded the cart offering messages of support as he went back off the field and, eventually, to the hospital. He was fitted with an air cast before being taken away. The ABC broadcast showed Brown being wheeled off the field with an ambulance in the distance.
“I’m standing down here on the sideline and as all of his teammates came over, the message was the same: ‘We love you, JB. We’re here for you, JB,'” said ABC’s Taylor McGregor on the broadcast. “Certainly a lot of emotion felt out here on the sideline watching their teammate get put on a cart.”
Brown finished the game against Notre Dame with one reception for 11 yards. Coming into the Week 5 matchup, the sophomore wideout logged 11 receptions for 156 yards and two touchdowns during his first four games as a Razorback. He is in his first season at Arkansas after transferring from Florida State.
During his lone season at Florida State, Jalen Brown recorded eight catches for 75 yards as a freshman. He arrived at Arkansas as the No. 728 overall player in the On3 Industry Transfer Rankings.

It was a rough day for the Razorbacks, who saw Notre Dame put up more than 600 yards of offense en route to the resounding 56-13 victory in Fayetteville. The Fighting Irish dominated the first half, leading to some frustrations in the locker room, Pittman told McGregor.
“Sam Pittman told me there was a lot of emotion in the locker room at halftime and he said, ‘We have to play better,’ and the frustration really boiling over when it comes to the defense,” McGregor said on the ABC broadcast. “He said, ‘It’s been the same story now for three weeks. We have not been able to stop the run.’
“He said, ‘We’ve tried everything.’ So they’re going to try a little bit of man-to-man coverage. He said, ‘We can’t stop the run unless we add an extra man in the box.’ So we’ll see if that happens. But it is frustrating down here for the Arkansas Razorbacks.”
