Little Rock RHP Jackson Wells commits to Arkansas out of NCAA transfer portal

Former Little Rock right-handed pitcher Jackson Wells has committed to Arkansas via the Transfer Portal, he announced on X Wednesday night.
The Rogers, AR native started 16 games for Little Rock this season, where he pitched to a 5.36 ERA with 97 strikeouts in 87 1/3 innings. He joins an Arkansas program that begins play in the Men’s College World Series on June 14 against LSU.
Wells, who transferred from UA Rich Mountain to Little Rock prior to the 2023 season, quickly blossomed into one of the nation’s most underrated arms. In his first season of Division I baseball, the right-hander was named the 2023 OVC Pitcher of the Year as well as All-OVC First Team. He led all of DI baseball with a 1.65 ERA in 93 innings and pitched two shutouts.
The 2024 season however wasn’t as great as many probably would have expected, as his ERA rose to 5.91 in just 64 innings pitched. The Trojans won the OVC Regular Season Championship, but failed to reach the NCAA Tournament.
Little Rock would however reach the Big Dance for just the second time ever in 2025, Wells’ third season in the Trojan pitching rotation. This season, the Arkansas native pitched to a 5.36 ERA in 87 1/3 innings. He pitched in both Baton Rouge Regional games against LSU, where he allowed 10 hits and six earned runs with seven strikeouts in 8 1/3 combined innings.

The 2025 season for Arkansas has been a major bounce back from the previous two seasons, in which it lost in back-to-back Fayetteville Regionals. The Razorbacks head to Omaha as the highest remaining National Seed (No. 3), as Vanderbilt and Texas both failed to advance out of their own regionals.
The ‘Backs blew through Kansas, Creighton and North Dakota State in this year’s Fayetteville Regional and swept Tennessee in the Fayetteville Super Regional.
This season’s Razorback team has been forged from the portal, as key players shortstop Wehiwa Aloy (Sacramento State), left-handed pitcher Zach Root (East Carolina), outfielder Logan Maxwell (TCU), outfielder Charles Davalan (Florida Gulf Coast), first baseman Cam Kozeal (Vanderbilt) and right-handed pitcher Aiden Jimenez (Oregon State) made their way to Arkansas from other Division I programs.
Wells becomes the first piece of the 2026 transfer portal class for the Arkansas Razorbacks and will finish his career in the SEC. To keep up with On3’s Transfer Portal tracker, click here.
