Sam Pittman reacts to Ole Miss leaving Jaxson Dart in late: 'I don't have a problem with Lane'
Ole Miss did not hold back this weekend as they entered Razorback Stadium on Saturday with a 2-13 program record in Fayetteville. Defeating the Razorbacks in a lopsided 63-31 victory that featured several record-breaking performances for the Rebels.
Jaxson Dart threw for 515 yards and six touchdowns this weekend, still playing in the fourth quarter as Ole Miss stayed aggressive in the passing game despite being up significantly. Something that some Arkansas fans may have been upset about, but head coach Sam Pittman had no problem with.
“No, I don’t have a problem with Lane [Kiffin] or what he did,” Pittman said following Saturday’s game. “I don’t know if they were trying to get him a record or what the case is, but I don’t have a problem with how the game went. Expect for we had an opportunity to stop it and we couldn’t.”
Dart became the Ole Miss all-time leader in total offense on Saturday after breaking the Ole Miss single-game passing record against Arkansas. Leading the Rebels with 47 yards on the ground as well to surpass Archie Manning‘s single-game for total yards with 562 on the day.

Dart also helped wide receiver Jordan Watkins achieve a record-setting day as his primary target on Saturday. Setting school records with 254 receiving yards and five receiving touchdowns on just eight catches.
It’s unclear if breaking records was on the front of Kiffin’s mind when the fourth quarter rolled around on Saturday. But he did eventually pull Dart after completing an eight-yard pass to Cayden Lee with 9:50 remaining in the ball game. A completion that put him two yards ahead of Matt Corral‘s previous school single-game passing record.
The Razorbacks will hope for a much different result this weekend when they host No. 5 ranked Texas in the renewal of a classic Big 12 rivalry. While the Rebels will look to replicate their performance against another one of the nation’s top teams when they face No. 2 Georgia in Oxford.
