Auburn made history on multiple accounts Saturday. Not only did they break a two-decade drought at Rupp Arena but they brought home at least a share of the SEC regular season championship. Before fully getting settled in back home, the shared title turned into an outright one.

Tennessee taking down Alabama was enough to get Auburn over the line. Jahmai Mashack‘s buzzer-beating three-point attempt sent Knoxville and the Auburn players into absolute chaos.

A video of everyone reacting, with Johni Broome holding the phone was posted by Auburn. Seemingly on a bus, you can hear ESPN’s Karl Ravech go “Fires!” before Mashack hits the shot and wins Tennessee the game. Everyone then immediately began to thank Mashack for making the shot and giving Auburn the outright title.

“We ain’t sharing,” a few players said. Dylan Cardwell even began to sing Rocky Top before Broome and Miles Kelly got involved too. You can check out the full video from Auburn here.

Since Bruce Pearl took over on the Plains, the Tigers have three regular season titles. The 2018 season was a shared one with Tennessee but in 2022, it was on outright championship by a game over Kentucky and once again, Tennessee.

This season is now wrapped up with a week remaining and although two tough opponents are remaining on the schedule, no damage can be done. Auburn has locked up the one-seed in the SEC Tournament and the same thing likely could be said about the NCAA Tournament.

Many believe this year’s team might wind up being the most special of them all. While winning the SEC is a nice goal, you know bigger goals are out there for Auburn.

Bruce Pearl trolls Alabama, celebrates Tennessee win as Auburn wins SEC regular season title

Auburn left Rupp Arena with at least a share of the SEC regular season championship. Two games up with two remaining, only one scenario saw the Tigers clinch outright on Saturday. Alabama needed to lose to Tennessee in Knoxville in a matchup of top-six teams.

Tennessee got the job done at the buzzer, sending Knoxville into a frenzy. The party may be just as big on the Plains as Auburn are now the lone team who can claim an SEC Championship this season. Pearl is one happy guy, getting an assist from his former program.

Pearl took to social media to celebrate the occasion, possibly taking a shot at Auburn’s in-state rivals along the way. His former program wound up helping out in a big way.

“VFL and War Damn Eagle!” Pearl said via X.
