Auburn cornerback Tyler Scott signs with Georgia State out of NCAA transfer portal

Former Auburn cornerback Tyler Scott has signed with Georgia State out of the NCAA transfer portal, according to a report from On3’s Pete Nakos. He spent two years with the Tigers.
Scott did not play during the 2024 season after suffering an ACL injury that required surgery. He played sparingly during his first season on campus in 2023.
Tyler Scott logged four appearances, including the Music City Bowl, in 2023. He tallied just two tackles in those appearances.
Still, there’s reason to believe Scott can be a valuable addition if he can stay healthy. He was quite highly regarded out of high school.
Prior to enrolling at Auburn, Tyler Scott was ranked as a four-star prospect and the No. 321 overall recruit in the class, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. He also checked in as the No. 34 cornerback in the class and the No. 30 overall player from the state of Georgia, hailing from Mableton (GA) Pebblebrook.

Auburn adds defensive line transfer
While Tyler Scott is headed out of the Auburn program, others are headed in via the transfer portal. Former Florida A&M defensive lineman James Ash has committed to Auburn. Ash spent three seasons at Florida A&M, where he amassed 34 appearances.
Ash tallied a career-high 44 tackles and 2.5 sacks last season. In his three years with the Rattlers, Ash compiled 86 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, three pass deflections and an interceptions.
James Ash played high school football at Chamberlain (FL), where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 1,382 overall player and No. 122 defensive lineman in the 2020 recruiting cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
On3’s Grant Grubbs also contributed to this report.
