Auburn was held scoreless in the second half against Georgia on Saturday despite leading 10-0 to begin the game. QB Jackson Arnold was responsible for the only Tigers touchdown of the afternoon during what turned out to be a 20-10 loss to the Bulldogs.

Arnold was held to 30 yards passing in the second half, finishing with 137 passing yards on the afternoon. After a strong first half, Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze questioned his QB’s consistency down the stretch againt Georgia.

“When you look at the first half, you’re in love with what you see,” Freeze said on Monday. “When you look at parts of the second half, you question, why not the same throws? Why not the same accuracy? So all of that is certainly worth looking at.”

While Arnold didn’t have his best performance through the air, he finished as the team’s leading rusher with 13 carries for 55 yards, including the first half touchdown.

While the Tigers head coach confirmed Arnold will remain Auburn’s starting quarterback moving forward, Freeze answered whether he considered giving someone else a chance under center. Notably, five-star freshman QB Deuce Knight is waiting in the wings for his opportunity.

“We’re always getting other guys reps, for sure,” Freeze said. “But Jackson is who we’re going with Saturday and and hopefully he gets off to that same start he did again and continues it throughout four quarters.”

On the season, Arnold was completed 64.2 percent of his passing attempts for 983 yards and five touchdowns. He has yet to throw an interception this season. He’s also added 83 carries for 247 rushing yards and six additional touchdowns on the year.

Saturday’s loss dropped Arnold and the Tigers to 3-3 on the season, including an 0-3 start to SEC play over its last three games. Auburn suffered one-score losses to both Oklahoma 24-17 and Texas A&M 16-10 before the Georgia game.

The Tigers host No. 16 Missouri on Saturday, where they’ll look to get back in the win column. If that’s not the case, Auburn could look to make a change under center in an attempt to maintain its trajectory toward bowl eligibility. A loss during Week 8 would give them a 3-4 record, not to mention being 0-4 against SEC competition.

With Arnold set to lead Auburn into battle, kickoff between the two Tigers programs is set for 7:45 p.m. ET. The SEC Network will carry the live broadcast.
