Barrett Carter opens up on NFL feedback he received prior to returning to Clemson

Barrett Carter planned on going to the NFL after the season, but the Clemson linebacker opted to return to school after hearing pro feedback.
Despite his productiveness, Carter might’ve not received the grades he expected. The silver lining? The Tigers get quite the defender back.
So, Carter will take 2024 to improve upon the little things, graduate, aid his team and then get to the pros.
“Yeah, I was hearing a lot of different things,” Carter said. “The main thing for me is like, I know what I’m capable of. What I was hearing is … I feel like I’ll be selling myself short if I were to leave this year. It was a tough decision just because I know what I’m capable of. I know where I feel like my talent, my versatility, I know what I can do, and I know what value I will bring to a team.
“And (that wasn’t what) I was hearing from teams (with) grades and everything. So, you know, it was a tough decision to make, but you know, I’m coming back to bring a national championship back to this program, graduate, become a captain … set myself up for my future. And that’s what I’m here to do. Just lead my teammates every single day.”
Carter had another solid season with the Tigers, finishing with 59 total tackles, 35 solo tackles, nine tackles for loss, three sacks and two pass deflections.

“Being a Clemson Tiger has been the greatest gift that God has given me. Having the opportunity to play for this program for the past three years has been a privilege, and I am so grateful to everyone that’s been a part of my journey. I am reminded everyday just how much I’ve grown, not only as a player, but as a man and it’s thanks to you,” Carter wrote in his Instagram post.
“To Clemson–Thank you to the best fans in the world. Getting to play for you all in Death Valley has been an unforgettable experience.
