Tennessee left-handed pitcher Michael Sharman has committed to Clemson via the NCAA Transfer Portal, he announced on Instagram (@michaelsharman_) Saturday afternoon.

The Woodstock, GA, native appeared in 17 games (three starts) for Tennessee this season. He pitched to a 3.18 ERA in 22 2/3 innings with 25 strikeouts, 10 walks and a .229 opponent batting average.

Sharman transferred to Knoxville after two seasons of JUCO ball at Parkland (2023) and Georgia Highlands (2024). The right-hander dominated at that rank, totaling 157 strikeouts in 150 innings over two seasons. He was okay in relief for Tony Vitello‘s team this season, but did not pitch again after his appearance against Belmont on May 13.

Clemson Transfer Portal departures:

  • LHP BJ Bailey
  • OF Tristan Bissetta (Ole Miss)
  • RHP Luke Brown
  • LHP Jackson Cole
  • LHP Ethan Darden (Texas A&M)
  • LHP Hudson Lee
  • OF/LHP TP Wentworth (Oklahoma State)

Clemson Transfer Portal additions:

The 2024 regular season was a success for Clemson, which entered the NCAA Tournament with a 44-16 record. The Tigers earned the No. 11 overall seed, seeking back-to-back trips to a Super Regional for the first time since they reached three consecutive from 2005-2007.

After taking the opening game of the Regional over USC Upstate 7-3, Clemson dropped back-to-back games to Regional winner West Virginia (9-6) and Kentucky (16-4) to end its season. It had now failed to advance past a Regional for the 11th time in its last 12 NCAA Tournament appearances.

The Tigers will look much different next season, as program cornerstones Cam CannarellaDominic Listi and Andrew Ciufo will be moving on, whether its out of eligibility or the MLB Draft (in Cannarella’s case). They will look to get back to the top of the ACC next season, contending with strong programs in Florida State and Louisville.

Head coach Erik Bakich is however bringing in one of the best transfer classes in the country heading into his fourth season in charge. Sharman is one of eight incoming portal pieces for the Tigers so far, joined by Georgia outfielder Bryce Clavon, Mercer outfielder Ty Dalley, Appalachian State shortstop Tyler Lichtenberger, Loyola Marymount catcher Nate Savoie, Catawba right-handed pitcher Hayden Simmerson, Alabama right-handed pitcher Ariston Veasey and Western Kentucky outfielder Ryan Wideman.
