Deion Sanders 'can't fathom' hate from opponents: 'They can't help but expose themselves'

Through the first four weeks of the season, Colorado and Deion Sanders have taken their share of shots from opponents. Coach Prime turns it into motivation — he filed a trademark for “It’s Personal,” after all — but it still felt like a major storyline in the early going.
There are some coaches who might feel Sanders hasn’t “paid his dues,” according to Michael Irvin on Undisputed. While he’s only in his fourth year as a college head coach, Sanders is widely considered one of the best athletes of all time. After all, he has two Super Bowl rings and played in a World Series.
But when he hears about negativity from others, Sanders said it doesn’t bother him. Still, he doesn’t understand why people would say that.

“What bothers me is they can’t help but expose themselves,” Sanders said. “I got love for everybody. I don’t talk about nobody, man. Even when some of the detractors are saying, ‘He’s a bigmouth and he’s doing —’ what have I said? I promote my team, I promote my young men, I promote the coaches and our facility and our system and everything that we have have, everything that accomplishes that. I’ve never spoke negative about anyone in my life. I don’t believe in that, I don’t condone that. What God has for me is for me. It doesn’t make me sit up high to put you down low. It don’t do that.

“So I can’t fathom why y’all keep doing this every week. And the thing that I love the most, it’s not the kids. It’s not the kids. It’s some of the coaches, but it’s not the kids. So keep on, because the more you’re talking about me, that kid is, ‘Hmm, let me go find out on what’s over there that they don’t like.'”
While Deion Sanders has a decorated resume as a player, his coaching record is impressive, as well. At Jackson State, he had a 27-6 record — including a 19-2 mark in SWAC play — as the Tigers made two Celebration Bowl appearances. That earned Sanders two SWAC Coach of the Year awards before he decided to leave for Colorado.
Last week didn’t go well at all for the Buffaloes in a 42-6 loss to Oregon to drop their record to 3-1 after some impressive victories to start the year. But they’ll have a chance to make a statement on Saturday when they welcome No. 8 USC to Folsom Field. That game kicks off at noon ET, or 9 p.m. PT, on FOX.
