Deion Sanders reveals the key to what is working at Colorado: 'We just truly believe'

Deion Sanders is undoubtedly the biggest story in college football at the moment based on what Colorado has done in their first two weeks. They’ve only been able to do those things, though, because of the belief that resonates throughout their entire program.

During an appearance on ‘First Take’ on Friday, Sanders talked about what’s clearly working with the Buffaloes. To him, everything about their success is rooted in the faith that they have in one another and their outcome, no matter what anyone else has to say.

“We believe,” Sanders stated. “We have a wonderful plan, wonderful support staff. The coaching staff is impeccable. And the kids that we went out there and targeted to come as well as the ones we brought in? We just believe.”

Regardless of the noise, regardless of the naysayers, we truly believe in what’s inside that locker room and what’s dictating those plays, truly believe in what we’ve created,” said Sanders. “We just truly believe.”

Sanders says he also believes because winning is all that he has ever known. Whether as a player, coach, or anything else, he has achieved and made the necessary sacrifices to do so. That’s why, whether right now or in the future, he has every reason to think that Colorado is going to get where they want to be in his tenure.

I’ve always been that. This is just a different tool I’m using but it’s the same game, right? It’s just a different tool,” explained Sanders. “I don’t remember when I hadn’t won. Like, I’ve always wanted to win, I always did what I had to do.”

“When you’re trying to win at a certain level? There’s gonna be sacrifices, right? You’ve got to accept and you’ve got to cross some of those hurdles to get to that place that we call ‘there’,” said Sanders. “That’s what we’re chasing – that place called ‘there’. And I’ll be darned. I’m gonna get there. We’re gonna get there.”

This swing by Colorado has since turned into a home run and Sanders is only two innings into his career in the Power Five. Now, armed with that belief, there’s no telling what he and the Buffaloes could still accomplish as they wrap up non-conference play this weekend before diving into their final year in the Pac-12.

Sanders gifts players shades after Norvell’s viral comments

Deion Sanders wants his team looking good for Saturday’s showdown with Colorado State. That’s why, after some comments by Jay Norvell this week, Coach Prime gifted the entire team sunglasses ahead of the rivalry game.

On a video posted to his Instagram account, Sanders is shown speaking with his staff and team. He says in the video, “Let’s give them something…These are the shades. I’m going to give you these.”

The sunglasses are Colorado colors — gold and black.

The Buffaloes equipment staff came in and delivered the shades to all of the players.
