Former Liberty QB Kaidon Salter signs with Colorado

Former Liberty quarterback Kaidon Salter committed and signed with Colorado to continue his college football career. He’ll now play under Deion Sanders in 2025.
Salter drew a lot of interest from Syracuse as well, according to On3’s Steve Wiltfong. He spent four years at Liberty and will play his final season in Boulder.
With Salter in the fold, he’s a logical replacement for the outgoing and NFL-bound Shedeur Sanders. As it stands, Salter could be the one-year gap quarterback with experience while Colorado develops incoming five-star Julian Lewis.
Over the course of four seasons, Salter had 5,889 yards, 56 touchdowns, 17 interceptions, a 58.7% completion percentage, 2,006 rushing yards and 21 rushing touchdowns. He set career highs in 2023 with 44 total touchdowns, 2,876 passing yards and 1,089 rushing yards in 14 games.

Originally a Tennessee commit, Salter turned in a great career at Liberty and now could be one of the biggest pieces acquired by Sanders and Colorado.
As a member of the Class of 2021, Salter was a four-star recruit out of Cedar Hill (Texas) High, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 44 overall prospect in the state, the No. 27 quarterback in the class and the No. 282 overall prospect in the class.

Colorado finished the 2024 season 9-3 and will play BYU in the Alamo Bowl, the final game for Shedeur Sanders and Heisman winner Travis Hunter.
