Colorado sells out football season for first time in program history

The moment Deion Sanders was hired, Colorado fans bought into the football program. Folsom Field was packed for the Buffaloes spring game and the energy carried over into the fall. Two home games have resulted in sellouts, with two rivalry wins taking place over Colorado State and Nebraska.
With Pac-12 play now on the horizon, history has been made for Colorado. Every single home game is now considered a sellout. Arizona was the last game tickets were available through the Univeristy but now, secondary markets will have to do. It’s the first time Colorado has ever accomplished the feat.
“With the announcement of the Arizona game on November 11 selling out, the Colorado Buffaloes have officially sold out the entire season for the first time in history, school officials announced Tuesday,” a statement from Colorado said on Tuesday.”
The two home games have resulted in more than just sellouts. Following the wins, fans stormed the field both times. In what has to be an incredible feeling after winning just one game in 2022, the dividends of hiring Sanders are already paying off for Colorado officials.
Back in the 1990s, following Colorado’s national championship, there were a few close calls. Previous to the 2023 season, five out of six home games was the closest. Four occurred numerous amount of times too — all over the first half of the decade.

“In 1993, CU completely sold out five of six home games, a standard that stood for 30 years. CU has also sold out of four of six home games a total of five times, all coming between 1990-96.”
Colorado having a good home schedule has likely helped the cause as well. None will be bigger than reigning Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams and the USC Trojans coming to Boulder on Sept. 30. Oregon State is another ranked opponent on there while Stanford and Arizona round it all out.
Deion Sanders, Colorado begin 2023 season with 3-0 record
While there were going to be a ton of eyeballs following Deion Sanders in his first season with Colorado, nobody expected them to have three wins after three weeks. TCU was fresh off a national championship appearance, while Nebraska had just hired Matt Rhule. Maybe the Colorado State win was expected but a 3-0 record was not thought about heading into the opener.
Huge tests are now on the way, beginning with a road game against Oregon on Saturday.
