Florida LHP Jacob Gomberg enters NCAA transfer portal

Florida pitcher Jacob Gomberg has entered the NCAA transfer portal. Gomberg posted the news to his Twitter account on Thursday afternoon.
The promising prospect ran into injury issues during his time at Florida. He underwent Tommy John surgery after he was hurt during his freshman season in 2024. Recovery was slow.
Jacob Gomberg made some brief appearances for Florida during the 2025 campaign, but they did not go particularly well. He finished his sophomore season with a 63.00 ERA, giving up seven earned runs while completing only 1.0 innings worth of work.
During his two years at Florida, Gomberg made four total appearances. He allowed nine runs on eight hits, while walking five. He struck out just three. Opponents in 2025 hit .727 off him.
Now Jacob Gomberg will seek a fresh opportunity. In his post announcing his move to the transfer portal, Gomberg advertised a fastball ranging from 90-93 miles per hour, as well as an 80-82 changeup and a 78-81 curveball.

Florida adds transfer portal pitcher
In news that will help make up for the loss of Jacob Gomberg, the Florida baseball team has picked up an experienced arm out of the NCAA transfer portal. Notre Dame‘s Ricky Reeth announced his commitment to the Gators on Twitter on Thursday afternoon.
Reeth has spent the past four seasons at Notre Dame, where he has racked up 47 appearances on the mound. He’s been heavily involved as a reliever over the last two seasons.
In 2025, Reeth posted a career-best 4.31 ERA, working 48.0 innings and striking out 43 batters. He allowed just 12 walks and had five wild pitches.
Ricky Reeth’s longest career outing was a five-inning performance against Miami on March 23, 2024. His career best for strikeouts in a single game is six, which he accomplished on Feb. 25, 2024 against FIU.
