College football analyst Josh Pate pondered if Florida could actually repeat their success this weekend against Texas A&M. Billy Napier and the Gators pushed the right buttons and got an upset win over Texas this past weekend and so there’s a thought they could knock off the Aggies.

Pate is of the mind Florida can string together some wins if they are able to play the way they did Saturday. DJ Lagway looked like his best and suddenly, the Gators put together a full, consistent game.

“Yeah, I had a guy call me yesterday afternoon, like a smart football minded guy and (he) said, ‘Well, looks like Billy prolonged the inevitable one more week.’ And I said, ‘What’s the inevitable?’ He said, ‘Well, I mean, everyone knows he’s going to lose his job.’ I said, ‘I don’t know that. I don’t know that because he still has his job, which means as long as he’s still got his job, and especially as long as that team’s still all in which they clearly are, he can mess around and continue to win games,’” Pate said on Always College Football.

“And so if you’re telling me he’s not qualified for the job, you need to fire him today. I don’t care if he won a game last weekend. He’s not qualified for his job. Fire him today. But if you don’t fire him today, then chances are maybe small, but chances are they could, they could string some wins together here.”

In Florida’s win, Lagway threw for 298 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Star WR Dallas Wilson had six catches for 111 yards and two touchdowns while RB Jaden Baugh had 27 carries for 107 yards and a touchdown.

On defense, Florida forced two Arch Manning interceptions and held the Longhorns to just 52 rushing yards. Carrying that over to the Aggies is another story though.

“I know they have … three losses … but two of them are out of conference, so they’re a one loss SEC team, like they’re not mathematically out of anything in the league standings,” Pate said. “If it was a one off against Texas, this will be a moot point. The results will solve this conversation for us. But if it’s not, then, yeah. What if that is the case? What if they’re just left for dead two years in a row, and then they just rev the engine two years in a row?

“Can you imagine how many questions at SEC media days, in lovely Tampa mind you, start with ‘Coach, how do you make sure you start fast this year? How do you start faster this year?’”
