Florida State campus shooting: LIV Golf star Brooks Koepka states 'my heart is broken' over news at alma mater
LIV Golf superstar and Florida State alum Brooks Koepka expressed heartbreak and sent his sympathies to his alma mater on Thursday. That came after reports of a school shooting that sent at least six to a Tallahassee-area hospital Thursday, according to a Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare spokesperson.
“My heart is broken reading the news,” Koepka posted to X/Twitter on Thursday. “Praying hard for my whole FSU family and Tallahassee.”
At least six people have been hospitalized, including one in critical condition, after a mass shooting was reported near the Student Union on Florida State University’s Tallahassee campus, according to CNN’s Ryan Young. Young later reported that there are believed to be two casualties, though local authorities have yet to confirm any deaths.
“It’s now up to six patients at the hospital, one in critical, five others in serious condition,” Young reported from Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare shortly before 2 pm ET during a live hit on CNN. “We see that patient list growing. And these numbers will probably change.”
Earlier, CNN reported a “suspect” is in custody and the shooting has stopped, but campus officals are still asking everyone on campus to “continue to shelter in place until law enforcement contacts you” while authorities continue to search the campus. The university issued an active shooter alert for the Tallahassee campus just after noon ET.
