FSU senior TE Markeston Douglas won't enter transfer portal

Florida State senior tight end Markeston Douglas had decided against entering the NCAA Transfer Portal, according to Warchant.com.
This report counters a prior reports from the Tallahassee Democrat, which wrote Douglas “is entering the transfer portal” on Saturday. Noles247 also reported Douglas was re-entering the portal Saturday.
Douglas returned to Tallahassee via the transfer portal during the Winter window after a one-year stint at Arizona State in 2024, where he caught one pass for 3 yards while appearing in all 14 games last season.
The 6-foot-5, 270-pound Douglas made five starts in 30 career games during his previous four-year run in Tallahassee (2020-23), appearing mostly as an extra blocking tight end. His best season came in 2022, when Douglas had 14 receptions for 190 yards and two touchdowns, including a a career-high four receptions for 50 yards and a touchdown in a 35-32 Cheez-It Bowl win over Oklahoma to end that season. Douglas also added 11 receptions for 136 yards and two scores in 2023.
“Florida State was always my home,” Douglas told Warchant in February. “I feel like I didn’t want to finish somewhere else. I wanted to be here. Finish with my team — finish on a good note.”

Because of his great size — listed at 285 pounds in 2023 — Douglas knows most view him as an oversized tight end who could primarily serve as a blocker.

“I want to transition out of that,” Douglas told Warchant. “To be like an all-around, balanced tight end that can line up in the the slot, the outside, H-Back and be on the line.”
To do that, he is in the process of reshaping his body. When the spring semester started, Douglas was listed at 275 pounds. And he said he’s thinner than that now.
“I plan to be like 260 to 265,” Douglas said. “I’m close to that goal right now. We haven’t even started spring ball, so I know I’m going lose more during spring. But I feel like I’ll be there pretty soon.”
Even though he has the most experience in the room by far, Douglas will have some serious competition from Florida State’s other tight ends this fall. The Seminoles bring back talented youngsters Landen Thomas and Amaree Williams, both of whom showed great potential as freshmen; productive veteran Randy Pittman has transferred in from UCF; and the Seminoles also have a promising true freshman in Chase Loftin.
