Florida State wide receiver Squirrel White had a heavy brace on his left wrist, per Warchant. The Seminoles pass catcher did not register a catch in the first half of their game against East Texas A&M Saturday.

White did have one carry for seven yards in the first half, but not much else. It’s likely he’ll be out for the rest of the game Saturday. Florida State was up 63-0 midway through the third quarter and built a 49-0 lead at halftime.

In last week’s upset win over Alabama, White caught one pass for 40 yards. This is his first season with the Seminoles after transferring from Tennessee.

Last season, White caught only 34 passes for 381 yards, two touchdowns and 11.2 yards per catch. He has six touchdowns in his career (two each season), but had career highs in 2023. White had 67 catches for 803 yards, two touchdowns and 12 yards per catch two seasons ago.

As a member of the Class of 2022, White was a four-star recruit out of Pinson (Ala.) Clay-Chalkville, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking. He was the No. 15 overall prospect in the state, the No. 63 wide receiver in the class and the No. 371 overall prospect in the class.

As far as how he was performing for Florida State going into the season, head coach Mike Norvell was satisfied as the WR bounced back from injuries. It remains to be seen how that translates to the regular season as a whole, but there’s been good signs for White.

“Yeah, you can see the confidence he’s playing with. I don’t think anything’s holding him back from the previous injury,” Norvell said. “He’s definitely playing fast and put that on display tonight. I like his attitude and mindset. He’s making plays when he gets his opportunities.”

Norvell praised White’s performance during the scrimmage. If he’s anything like his 2023 version, White could certainly elevate the Seminoles’ offense.

“(QB Tommy Castellanos) did great things with his arm, pushing the ball down the field,” Norvell said. “Squirrel White had a couple of really big plays, including a long touchdown where he showcased his speed and got a great ball from Tommy. Another guy who stood out was Micahi Danzy, who had a couple of nice plays.

“He showed some looseness, especially on a short pass, and had a solid run. He did some good things with those opportunities. Amari Williams had a couple of nice plays, and I’m excited about his growth and what he’s doing.”
