CJ Allen reveals how Georgia players talk about losing streak vs. Alabama, opportunity in SEC Championship
There’s more than a little on the line for the Georgia Bulldogs in the SEC Championship Game. Obviously, winning the conference would be massive. It would also assuredly clinch a bye in the College Football Playoff for the Bulldogs. Then, it would also help to change the narrative when the Bulldogs play Alabama.
Georgia linebacker CJ Allen shared some thoughts on the team’s approach to Alabama ahead of their meeting. That chance to beat Alabama is on their minds, though they’re also trying to win the SEC, which is more important.
“No doubt,” CJ Allen said. “It’s something I definitely kind of think about, you know? It’s crazy you just asked that because I was actually talking to my mom, she asked that on the phone. That’s the only team I haven’t beat, especially in the SEC Championship.”
The series between Georgia and Alabama has, undeniably, been dominated by Alabama going back to the start of the Nick Saban era. That since 2007. In that time, Alabama has a 10-2 record over Georgia and is currently riding a three-game winning streak. That includes two wins under Kalen DeBoer, four SEC Championships that have all gone to the Crimson Tide, and a 1-1 split in the national championship.
Given that, Allen isn’t alone looking for a win against Alabama. In fact, he admitted that his teammates share his attitude toward beating the Crimson Tide.

“No doubt. Guys just wanna win this game, period. You know, doesn’t matter who we’re playing,” Allen said. “But, definitely, I think guys feel the same way in terms of wanting to beat them.”
On the teleconference, Georgia quarterback Gunner Stockton would also go on to address the lack of success the Bulldogs have had in the series. However, he also wanted to make it clear. That series history is history. This SEC Championship Game is not affected by it.
“Everybody knows the history of Georgia-Alabama. It’s there,” Stockton said. “But they can’t transfer a win or a loss to this game. This is its own game by itself. That’s the way we’re approaching it. Approaching it like any other game and preparing the right way during the week and setting yourself up for success when Saturday comes.”
Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. EST on Saturday, December 6th. As usual, the game is set to be played in Atlanta and both teams walk into it with a tremendous amount of respect for one another.
