The Georgia Bulldogs got some bad news going into their bye week. Head coach Kirby Smart shared on Tuesday that they’ll be without three key players for the Florida game on November 1st.

Smart shared that wide receivers Colbie Young and Talyn Taylor will be out. On top of that, defensive back Kyron Jones also won’t be available. That’s going to test the depth for the Bulldogs going into the final stretch of the season.

Smart was succinct, saying, “Yeah, all three of those guys will be out.” He did not elaborate on the status of any of those players beyond that, though.

Colbie Young left last Saturday’s game with a leg injury. Unfortunately, it’s already been reported as a long-term issue. Yahoo’s Ross Dellenger wrote, “Kirby Smart says Georgia WR Colbie Young is out long term. He has a fracture in the leg.” This comes in his second season with the program after previously playing for Miami.

This year, Young has 23 receptions for 336 yards and a touchdown. That’s second on the team in receiving yards. That’s significantly more production than Georgia has seen from Talyn Taylor, who has two receptions for 28 yards.

A five-star recruit in the Class of 2024, Taylor was the 23rd-ranked player overall and the fourth-ranked wide receiver in that recruiting class. He suffered an upper body injury in practice ahead of the Kentucky game. That was three weeks ago now, and he hasn’t been back since.

Kirby Smart had rounded out the injury update by announcing that Kyron Jones is also out for the Florida game. He had previously been ruled out ahead of the Ole Miss game with a foot injury. However, it’s unclear just how severe that injury is going to be.

Jones has played in six games this season. In that time, he has 24 total tackles and a fumble recovery. This is his redshirt sophomore season after joining the team in the Class of 2023.

After beating Ole Miss, Georgia now sits at 6-1 overall and 4-1 in SEC play. There are still two unbeaten teams in SEC play, Alabama and Texas A&M. Georgia already lost to Alabama and won’t play Texas A&M. So, if the Bulldogs do want to get back to the SEC Championship Game, they’ll need to avoid tripping up again and get some help. Injuries can always derail that, which Smart will hope to avoid when he meets rival Florida in Jacksonville.
