The Georgia Bulldogs set a record this weekend – and it wasn’t a good one. Tom Crean and Georgia’s regular season came to an end Saturday afternoon following their 79-69 loss to the Missouri Tigers.

The Bulldogs finished the season with a 6-25 overall record, only managing to win one of their 18 contests against SEC competition. Georgia’s 25 losses are more than any other programs’ losses in a single season in SEC history.

Their lone win came versus Alabama, 82-76, on Jan. 25 at home in Athens.

Georgia started out the game versus Missouri with a 14-2 lead, making all of their first 10 field goal attempts. At halftime, the Bulldogs led the Tigers by a score of 39-30, as Georgia shot 56% from the field and 60% from 3-point land. They were outscored 49-30 in the second period after only managing to make 33% of all field goals and 14% from deep.

Tom Crean on the hot seat

The team’s struggles obviously have Tom Crean on the hot seat after four seasons at the helm.

Formerly the head coach at Indiana and Marquette, Crean has the worst win percentage of his career in Athens. He’s gone 47-74 in four years at Georgia, amassing a .388 win percentage, along with a 15-57 record in SEC play.

Georgia has finished no better than 10th in the SEC, and the Bulldogs never made it to the NCAA Tournament. They finished this season with a 6-25 record (1-17 in conference play), placing the Bulldogs 14th in the SEC.

If the program parts ways with Crean after the conference tournament, they’ll owe him $3.6 million.

No. 14 seed Georgia takes on No. 11 seed Vanderbilt in round one of the SEC tournament on Friday in Tampa Bay. The Bulldogs have a less than 0.01% chance to win the championship, a less than 0.01% chance to make the championship game and a 0.05% chance to make the semifinals, according to analytics guru Ken Pomeroy.
