Monroe Freeling, Micah Morris injury updates: Kirby Smart provides latest on offensive line

Georgia‘s offensive line has been a bit of a work-in-progress through the first half of the 2025 college football season as the unit has been ravaged by injuries. That includes starting junior right tackle Earnest Greene III playing less than a full half of football across the first six weeks of the season while dealing with a nagging back injury.
Now the left side of Georgia’s offensive line is in question after starting junior left tackle Monroe Freeling left Saturday’s 35-14 win over Kentucky at the end of the first offensive series with a left ankle injury, according to Smart. Fifth-year senior left guard Micah Morris is also banged up thanks to a hamstring injury suffered the week before against Alabama and then missed some time Saturday with a dislocated shoulder before returning later in the game. Reserve sophomore tackle Bo Hughley, who started at right tackle against Alabama before being replaced by true freshman Juan Gaston, took over for Freeling at left tackle despite not practicing a snap at the position in practice.
“Don’t know how bad or severe it was, (Freeling’s injury) was an ankle. We retaped and he tried to go, tried to put pressure on it and couldn’t,” Smart said during Saturday’s postgame press conference. “You know, Bo (Hughley) practiced all week at right (tackle) and had to go to left (in Freeling’s place), didn’t take many (practice) reps there.

“Micah’s dealing with a hamstring pull from the week before. He was able to go without getting any reps at practice, then his shoulder slipped out, which he’s dealing with and he came back. But they’re a mash unit, it’s tough sledding. It’s the dangest thing I’ve ever seen with the offensive line in terms of never played two freshmen, never played with five guys and having to roll guys. It’s been tough.”
Entering the season, Greene, Freeling and Morris were considered the grizzled veterans along Georgia’s offensive line. Greene had 23 starts under his belt prior to the season while both Freeling and Morris have significant experience at multiple positions along the line, including Freeling replacing Green at left tackle over the final five games of the 2024 season while Greene dealt with a shoulder injury. Redshirt junior center Drew Bobo is the lone stalwart having started the last six games. Freeling has started the Bulldogs’ last nine games at left tackle, but his status for next week’s rivalry game at Auburn remains in doubt with his new ankle injury.
