WWE star, Georgia fan Cody Rhodes calls loss to Alabama a 'sad ending,' makes prediction for remainder of season

After opening the season with wins over Austin Peay, Marshall and No. 15 Tennessee, No. 5 Georgia suffered its first loss of the season to No. 17 Alabama last Saturday night. The Crimson Tide’s 24-21 victory snapped the Bulldogs’ 33-game winning streak and slapped them with an SEC loss just two games into conference play.
Fresh off the loss, current WWE Champion and massive Georgia fan Cody Rhodes joined Thursday’s edition of the ‘Pat McAfee Show‘ to discuss the upcoming ‘Crown Jewel‘ Premium Live Event and Georgia‘s loss to Alabama. The second-generation star revealed that he was very upset by the loss, but said that he thinks Georgia will run the table the rest of the season to still make the College Football Playoff.
“It’s not like it was before the big extended Playoff, where that one loss is it,” Rhodes said. “As far as fanbases, we’re not packing it up in Athens and saying it’s over. But I certainly didn’t think that was gonna be the case. I didn’t think Alabama had any of the juice. I didn’t think that, so that game was just *eugh*. Just a sad ending.”
Rhodes reveals he sees Georgia winning out heading into Playoff
“I see Georgia running the table throughout, I do. And then we get into the same discussions at the end with one-loss teams and two-loss teams and who fits. But I still stand by my ‘Dawgs and that was just a great game. That game is always a great game, but not what I was expecting. But as bad as it used to be… it used to be in the SEC, you lose one game and it’s over. Pack it up. But now there’s a bit of a cushion there. But it was not a good day for me.”

Georgia currently is slated to face a ranked opponent in just three of its final eight games in the regular season. This includes home games against No. 4 Ole Miss and No. 9 Texas and a neutral site game against No. 17 Georgia Tech in Mercedes-Benz Stadium. It has a strong chance to bounce back this weekend at home against a struggling Kentucky team before going on the road to face Auburn next weekend.
Kickoff for No. 12 Georgia vs. Kentucky between the hedges on Saturday is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. ET. The Bulldogs have won 15 consecutive games against the Wildcats dating back to 2010. The game can be seen on ABC.
