Drew Bianco just keeps making plays in the Houston outfield. In the sixth inning against Incarnate Word, Bianco was manning center field when a ball was rocketed over his head.

The ball was destined to become a home run, but Bianco, the son of Ole Miss head coach Mike Bianco, had other ideas. He sprinted back into the right-center field gap and kept going, eventually hauling in the ball while slamming into and over the outfield wall.

Bianco then flipped over rather aggressively, but held onto the ball as he smashed into his own bullpen. The play saved a solo home run, which would have cut Houston’s lead to 8-4.

Of course, this isn’t Bianco’s first rodeo when it comes to robbing home runs. Last week, he did the same in the top of the third inning in a game against California. With a runner on first and one out in a scoreless game, Bianco saved the Cougars from going down 2-0 in the early stages.

Bianco began his collegiagte career at LSU, where he played in 136 games across four seasons. With the Tigers, he hit .190 with 10 home runs and 41 runs batted in. He also drew 36 walks, playing across the diamond defensively.

Entering today’s game, Bianco has started all five games for Houston, hitting just .118. He has one home run and 3 RBI on the year. But even without great numbers at the plate, he has shown his value as a tremendous fielder in the outfielder.

Houston’s season began with a series loss against Cal, where the Cougars dropped two of three. Houston then lost 12-2 at UTSA on Wednesday to drop to 1-3 on the year.

The Cougars are playing as part of the Kleberg Bank College Classic. Houston defeated Utah 14-5 on Friday before falling to Texas A&M – Corpus Christi 12-2 on Saturday.
