WATCH: Iowa's Tony Perkins commits obvious flop vs. Wisconsin
For better or worse, flopping for a call is part of sports. Basketball is one of the sports where this happens with relative frequency. Unfortunately for Iowa guard Tony Perkins, the cameras were there to capture his obvious flop against Wisconsin on Wednesday night.
On the play, Perkins is going to challenge Tyler Wahl of Wisconsin on the low post. That’s a mismatch in Wahl’s favor, so Perkins tried to draw an offensive foul with a flop. It didn’t work.
You can watch Tony Perkins commit an obvious flop, here:
It looks like Tony Perkins is expecting Tyler Wahl to drop his shoulder into him and make a physical play in the low post. Anticipating this, he falls backward and onto the ground, trying to time it for when Wahl makes contact with him.
There was just one problem. Wahl decided to use a spin move. Because of this, he never made any contact with Perkins, leading to the funny visual of Perkins flopping with several inches of space between their bodies. The play ultimately ended in a wide-open layup for Wahl.

Adding insult to injury, Wisconsin won the game 64-52.
Where do Iowa and Wisconsin stand in the Big Ten?
The regular season is coming to an end soon. With that, Big Ten teams are currently jockeying for position ahead of the Big Ten Tournament.
From 12th place Nebraska to 3rd place Indiana, each team is only separated by three wins. That means, even with just a few games left, each team could move in the standings by leaps and bounds. Iowa is currently 9th, with a 9-8 record in conference play. Wisconsin is still behind them at 10th, despite this win, at 8-9 in the Big Ten.
