Cade Beloso explains what led to him ending his last home game at LSU on a high note

LSU slugger Cade Beloso played his final home game ever at Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field this Sunday for Game 2 of the Baton Rouge Super Regional versus Kentucky. He made it a memorable one.
With two runners on in the third inning and the game tied at 1, Beloso smashed a 0-2 pitch over the fence for a game-changing three-run home run.
“It was an 0-2 heater right down the middle,” Beloso said after the game. “That guy was doing a really good job of sinking and running the ball away from lefties. I finally found one I could stay behind and put a good swing on. I don’t know what happened after that. I’d be lying if I told you I remembered. I kind of blacked out. Once I saw the ball go over the fence, I kind of just blacked out.”
That was Beloso’s only hit of the day but it proved to be the turning point of the contest as LSU went on to win, 8-3, to clinch a spot in Omaha.
Beloso led the way along with potential No. 1 pick Dylan Crews, who drew four walks and knocked a two-RBI double in six plate appearances.
The Tigers will now make their 19th appearance at the College World Series this weekend and first since 2017.

“I was just so happy we won the game today,” Beloso said. “In that at-bat I was just trying to hit a fly ball to center field, and ended up getting a good pitch over the heart of the plate and put a good swing on it. That gave us a lead. That was what I was really excited about. Anytime you have momentum in postseason it’s huge. It was on our side after that. That’s what I was really excited about.”
Beloso, a graduate student in his fifth year in the LSU program, is a Louisiana native. He is hitting .316 on the season with a .442 on-base percentage, 14 homers, 41 RBIs and 39 runs scored.
A three-year starter heading into the season, Beloso missed almost the entire 2022 season with a knee injury. He had been the starting first baseman as a freshman and sophomore and the starting designated hitter as a junior.
He has been on a tear this postseason and will enter Omaha having hit three homers in his past four games. Beloso has also knocked at least one hit in nine of his past 12 games.
