LSU running back Caden Durham is expected to practice lightly this week after suffering an ankle injury in the Tigers’ 56-10 win over SE Louisiana on Saturday, per ESPN’s Pete Thamel. An MRI ruled out a high ankle sprain for Durham. His status for LSU’s game against Ole Miss on Saturday is undetermined.

Durham suffered the injury while being tackled in the second quarter. He limped off the field following the collision. Before leaving the game, Durham recorded 17 rushing yards on seven carries.

Durham boasts a team-high 213 rushing yards and two touchdowns this season on 52 carries. He’s also recorded eight catches for 39 yards.

Thankfully for the Tigers, they were able to handle SE Louisiana without much help from Durham. In the win, LSU tallied 530 yards of total offense. Meanwhile, the Tigers’ defense held SE Louisiana to 210 yards. After the game, LSU head coach Brian Kelly praised his team for their performance.

“We have a standard for the way we want to play, and I thought we upheld that standard,” Kelly said. “There’s no perfection out there, but there was definitely progress. We made the progress that we were looking for. Now, we’ve got to build on that going into Ole Miss on the road against a very good football team.

“Again, the goal here was to play to a standard, not to the opposition. A lot of respect for Coach Scelfo and what he’s done and accomplished, but we had the better team and the better players. So, it then becomes much more about your execution and the things you do, and I thought we did some pretty good things today.”

On Saturday, LSU will square off against Ole Miss. It will be the Tigers’ second game against an SEC foe. They defeated Florida 20-10 in Week 2.

If Caden Durham is healthy enough to play against Ole Miss, he could have a massive impact on the game. The Rebels are allowing 190.5 rushing yards per game, the 14th-most in the country. LSU will undoubtedly look to take advantage of this weakness.

Ole Miss won’t go down easy. The Rebels are 4-0 this season and dominated Tulane 45-10 on Saturday.

“I’m really proud because we were coming off two hard games and we could have been looking ahead next week to LSU,” Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin said after the game. “Our players and coaches came out and took care of business. It was a dominating day against a really well-coached team that plays hard.”
