Houston transfer AJ Haulcy plans to visit LSU

Former Houston safety AJ Haulcy plans to visit LSU this weekend, On3’s Pete Nakos has confirmed. The visit is planned, but no date is set just yet.
As of this report, Haulcy is the No. 2 rated safety in the 2025 On3 transfer portal rankings, and the No. 31 player overall. He is also in contact with Miami, and it appears that the two programs are locked in a battle for the defender’s services.
Haulcy spent two seasons with the Cougars, and has been the anchor of the Houston defense since he arrived on campus ahead of the 2023 season. He began his career at New Mexico, where as a true freshman, Haulcy totaled 86 tackles including 38 solo, three pass breakups, two forced fumbles and a pair of interceptions.
That success followed him to the Big 12, where he put up career-high numbers during the 2023 seasons. He compiled 97 total tackles — including 72 solo — to go with three more PBUs, and a forced fumble.
Haulcy continued his disruption on the field this past season. His overall numbers were down — but that could be due to the fact that quarterbacks shouldn’t throw the ball his way. He made opposing signal callers pay for that on five occasions, hauling in a career-high five picks as well as seven PBUs. Haulcy still managed to compile 74 total tackles during his final season with the Cougars.

Now, he’s set to join a top program in college football in either LSU or Miami. Who that team will be remains to be seen, but the one that does nab his services will receive a plug and play defensive back who has been successful wherever he’s been at the college level. There’s no sign he’ll slow down in his future destination.
