Jay Johnson tells LSU fans he is 'counting on them' to keep College World Series purple

LSU played well enough during the regular season to spend its entire postseason in Baton Rouge to this point. There might not be a better home field advantage in college baseball than Alex Box Stadium, no matter the opponent. Head coach Jay Johnson knows it too, living through some electric crowds through three seasons.
Now, Johnson is hoping the same is true about Charles Schwab Field in Omaha. He issued a challenge to LSU fans ahead of the College World Series. Johnson is expecting a whole lot of purple during Saturday’s game against Arkansas.
“There’s no place like LSU,” Johnson said. “Very thankful. They absolutely made a difference in the postseason in the regional and Super Regional with the crowd. I’m counting on them to keep that stadium purple.”
Showing out in Omaha is nothing new when it comes to LSU, just ask Rocco’s. The Tigers could be playing in the most obscure ballpark and the people would flock from Baton Rouge. Trips to the College World Series are routine at this point, even having extended stays.
Arkansas fans are going to have something to say about that, though. Saturday night will bring an entertaining game between the two rivals, scheduled for 6 p.m. CT. A capacity of 24,000 might not be enough to contain both sets of fans. Standing room order is likely to be in use in order to watch the all-important opening game.

LSU traveling outside of Baton Rouge for first time in postseason
Earning the No. 6 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament, LSU was guaranteed home games throughout the regional and Super Regional as long as the wins kept coming. Nearly everything has gone to plan thus far, sporting a 5-1 overall record in the postseason.
Little Rock provided a scare in the regional final, winning the first game to cause a winner-take-all matchup. LSU took care of business, though, with a 10-6 win before eventually welcoming West Virginia to town. Two games later, the Tigers were in the College World Series in search of winning another national championship.
LSU did face Arkansas this season, taking two of three. However, they were in Alex Box Stadium with massive crowds on hand. As mentioned, plenty of people will back into Charles Schwab Field but a little more red will be present. Johnson is hoping the majority will be purple and gold to create an incredible atmosphere for his team.
