The college baseball series finale between the LSU Tigers and South Carolina Gamecocks slated for Friday night has been rescheduled for Saturday at noon ET, per an official Twitter release from the LSU baseball team.

LSU won Game 2 of the series on Friday, 8-7. South Carolina dominated Game 1 of the series on Thursday, winning 13-5.

In Game 2, LSU was trailing 7-3, when slugger Gavin Dugas blasted a grand slam to left field to tie the game up at 7-7 in the eighth inning. Then Cade Beloso singled in the ninth inning, bringing home Jordan Thompson, which ended up being the winning run as the Tigers prevailed 8-7. LSU currently sits at 26-5 overall and 7-4 in the SEC, featuring one of the most loaded rosters in all of college baseball.

Weather has wreaked havoc on several sports events across the South this weekend, as we saw play suspended on Friday afternoon at Augusta National at The Masters.

LSU has absolutely throttled many of their opponents this season. They’ve beaten 15 of their opponents by double digits. That includes a 26-4 beatdown of Central Connecticut State. It’s safe to say the Blue Devils are not going to forget that one anytime soon. The Tigers feature some serious firepower in their offensive arsenal: four batters have already hit nine home runs or more: Dylan Crews, Tommy White, Jared Jones, and Gavin Dugas.

White already has 51 RBIs, leading his teammates by a pretty significant margin. He was one of the biggest lands of the transfer portal this offseason, as the Tigers lured him to Baton Rouge from N.C. State. Nicknamed “Tommy Tanks”, he belted 27 home runs in his rookie campaign for the Wolfpack, the most ever by a freshman in college baseball. Simply put, LSU was lucky to land him.

As for Dylan Crews, he’s projected to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft for a reason. He’s currently batting .510 at the plate, with 52 hits in 102 at bats. Those are pretty mind-blowing stats. Crews has already racked up 90 total bases for LSU, nine more than second on the team, Tommy White (81).

It’ll be interesting to see if the Tigers can bring the juice when they need to the most, in the upcoming NCAA Tournament. Timing is a lot of things in life. In sports, it all comes down to who plays the best in a particular point in time.
