LSU expected to hire former UConn coach Bob Diaco as analyst, shake up defensive staff

The LSU Tigers are making multiple changes to the team’s defensive staff, per On3’s Matt Zenitz.
First, former UConn head coach Bob Diaco is being added as an analyst. Then, John Jancek has been promoted to an on-field coaching role.
Bob Diaco was a defensive coordinator at Notre Dame from 2010 through 2013 under Brian Kelly, coming over with him from Cincinnati. In 2014, he became the head coach at UConn, a job he held through the 2016 season. He compiled an 11-26 record there and infamously tried to start the Civil ConFLiCT rivalry with UCF, which now has a mysterious missing trophy.

Since leaving UConn, Diaco has worked at Nebraska, Oklahoma, Louisiana Tech, Purdue, and in the USFL.
For his part, Jancek’s is expected to work with the outside linebackers, though he does have plenty of experience. He has been a defensive coordinator at Tennessee, Cincinnati, and Colorado State. His working relationship with Brian Kelly goes all the way back to Grand Valley State and Central Michigan.
