LSU injury updates: Brian Kelly provides latest on Braelin Moore, Trey’Dez Green

The LSU Tigers and head coach Brian Kelly avoided falling into a trap game against Louisiana Tech on Saturday, grabbing a 23-7 win. That game wasn’t without its cost, though. The Tigers’ offense took multiple injury hits to starting center Braelin Moore and tight end Trey’Dez Green.
After the game, Kelly shared what he knew about both of the injuries. They’re both dealing with what could be considered lower-body injuries. However, until further testing gets done, the LSU staff isn’t going to know where either stands moving forward.
“One is an ankle. One is a knee,” Brian Kelly said. “We’ll get MRIs for both of those guys tomorrow and then we’ll know a little bit more.”
Moore came to LSU as a transfer from Virginia Tech in December of 2024. He’s quickly made his impact felt in Baton Rouge. He was considered one of the On3 Impact Ranking’s top risers from Week 1. He was also one of the Top 10 transfer portal impact players from the first week of the season. However, in the fourth quarter of the Louisiana Tech game, he’d be rolled up on at the line of scrimmage. At the center position, he was acting as an anchor for a largely rebuilt LSU offensive line, and the Tigers are going to miss him for however long he’s out.
Similarly, Green suffered his injury. A defensive lineman fell on his leg, seeming to injure his knee as he was bent awkwardly on the play. Later, he would be seen along the sideline with a knee brace and crutches. Prior to that, in two games, he had made two catches for 17 yards and a touchdown.

Trey’Dez Green is a unique player for Kelly and LSU. A five-star recruit in the Class of 2024, he was the top-ranked tight end, second-ranked player in the state of Louisiana, and the 31st-ranked player nationally in the recruiting cycle. That was just as a football player. He’s been a multi-sport athlete during his time at LSU, also playing on the basketball team. There, he acts as a walk-on while football remains the sport that he focuses on. That’s with good reason too, as he’s considered one of the best up-and-coming tight ends in the country.
“What I love is his willingness to stick his nose in there and get dirty in the run game,” Kelly said. “And he did a really good job there. The second thing is he’s still working on his technique, so his technical ability is not just going to be run down the field and jump up and get the ball. That’s not Trey’Dez Green’s final piece of what he looks like.”
LSU is back in action on Saturday, September 13th, against the Florida Gators. Ideally, Kelly will have his team at full strength. For now, however, the health of Moore and Green remains to be seen.
