LSU outfielder Ashton Larson enters the Transfer Portal

LSU Tigers outfielder Ashton Larson has entered the Transfer Portal, per On3’s Pete Nakos. He spent two seasons with the Tigers.
Ashton Larson came to LSU after playing his high school baseball at St. Thomas Aquinas in Florida. However, he’s actually a native of Overland Park, Kansas. He’d leave high school as the 78th-ranked player overall and the 13th-ranked outfielder by Perfect Game. On top of that, he was the top-ranked player from the state of Kansas. In 2023, he’d become a 20th round MLB Draft pick.
In 2024, Larson’s first season with LSU, he would make the 2024 Freshman All-SEC Team. He’d also be named to the 2024 SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll. However, as a sophomore in 2025, he’d be hampered by a leg injury that cost him playing time. That was back in April, and it seemed to limit him toward the end of the season and going into the postseason.
For his two season career at LSU, Larson appeared in 87 games. He finished with a .289 batting average, a .406 OBP, and a .487 slugging percentage. That’s a .893 OPS. Larson would do that with five home runs, 28 RBIs, 12 doubles, and 52 strikeouts for his career. He’s also stolen seven bases and has never committed an error on 66 total chances in his career.
Ashton Larson has also played in the Cape Cod Baseball League in 2024 and 2025, both times playing for Chatham. In 2024, his only full season in the Cape League, he slashed .316/.369/.419 for a .788 OPS. He also had 18 RBIs in 31 games.

The 2025 season was another national championship run for LSU. The Tigers hosted both a Regional and Super Regional before making it to Omaha where they wouldn’t lose a single game. However, Larson’s playing time was limited. He made three appearances in the Regional and one in the Super Regional, but did not play at all once LSU got to Omaha. He’d only have one hit in the appearances he did make, as well.
For head coach Jay Johnson and LSU, the 2025 season was a historic success. The Tigers would go 53-15 overall and 19-11 in SEC play. Once they got to the postseason, the Tigers were really able to flex their muscles, and only lost one game between the NCAA Regional and the NCAA Super Regional, both of which were played in Baton Rouge. Then, at the College World Series in Omaha, LSU would go unbeaten to win the national championship. It was their second national championship in three seasons under Johnson.
